Back in the day when the GN could devour the vette my motto with regard to the vette was "too low too slow". Now days they have gotten quicker I suspect. Overall the Camaro for the price to power ratio is a better choice. Comfort has to go to Camaro. Power and performance goes to the Vette, does it not?

I love Camaros but if you don’t need the rear seat I’d go with the Vette in a New York minute. The only thing that scares me on Corvettes is the torque tube/transmission maintenance issues.

Tremec also likes to stop making replacement parts for corvette transmissions and Chinese knock off parts don’t always become available.

I went through this very thing when I bought my 2011 2SS. The choice was the Camaro or a Corvette 3 years older with more miles. It was a daily driver, at the end of the day I think I made the right choice, for me. But, yeah, I do like Corvettes.

Practical? How? I owned both at the same time, and my c6z hauled waaay more stuff, more room (camaro backseats are useless), seats are like lazy boys. Instrument cluster on the vette is super outdated, but you don’t pay attention to that when you have 600whp under your right foot.

Since I'm considering a C6 what specific transmission issues are there? Hate to think I would need to do repairs with parts made by our "good friends" in China.

So your vette's missing rear seat folded down to give you more trunk space?
Common sense says no.

The c6 uses a t56 which is ultimately a crappy transmission to begin with, despite its popularity. The t56 has been discontinued for a long time now, so replacement parts are very much whatever you can get ahold of and if you can find a chinese replacement part then consider yourself fortunate that option even exists. Basic rebuild kits are readily available but when you have gears and synchronizer assemblies, cluster shafts, etc that need to be replaced, that’s when you’re could start having problems sourcing what you need.

Part of the problem is that not all t56’s are the same. F-body, gto, cts-v, cobra, cobra-r, corvette, all different and not all parts are interchangeable between the variations of t56’s. You can’t simply crack open an f body trans and grab what you need.

Folding down the seats don’t mean jack squat if you can’t even fit anything in the trunk hole. I’ve fit a 6 and a half foot book case from ikea in my C6Z. It was in a box, and need assembling. Rear deck was still closed, and had other shit in the trunk.

I think the T56 was stopped being put in after 2007. Anything 2008 and up it’s the tr6060.

The T56 in my C6Z held fine.

I own a 2008 Z06 and a 2013 L99 SS1. I can't get rid of either one. Both awesome and very different. Test drive a few examples of each, compare what you can get at what you can afford. Be realistic with what you want/need.

Ooooh! Camaro, Corvette and that Olds!!! My kind of collection. My motto: always room for one more.

I have had a modded C6 base and now own a 2013 Zl1. I can say that both are great cars, however I would take my 5th gen Zl1 all the way (somewhat comparing apples to oranges though since I had a base model C6).

Drive both and sleep on it!

I have one of each. Both different animals. 5th Gen SS is 769 RWHP and can clean up the C6 pretty easy for now...Change will be coming over the winter though...
