10.39 in 3,700 DA

Got to participate in the Kaizenspeed track day rental. Thanks Kaizenspeed.

New personal best 10.39 despite DA of over 3,700. Previous best was 10.44 in better DA 2,400. Change from last time was I started spraying 100% meth instead of windshield wiper fuild which allowed me to add a couple of degrees of timing. Can't wait to run in DA of the 600s this fall.

Still running stock front wheels and tires. Also 100% stock long block.
Skinnies coming soon.

Best trap speed for the day was 134.3, best 1/8th was 6.7, best 1/8 trap was 107.1.

Video with more details and track footage

Nice job! These engines seem to really respond better when you can keep the timing up over 20 degrees.

Thanks. Trying to get it dialed in bad DA so I can make a run at it this fall when I get into good air.

Great pass and you are getting better each time out. Kaizen speed is a great performance shop and have put out some pretty fast rides including Shizzy's.

King you are right, I run 25 degrees but I run race fuel and I just switched to straight meth also. We figured out that 50/50 was flooding the system with too much water and possibly slowing my mph down on the big end. We made about 25 more hp on straight meth.

Thanks King. Timing ranged from 18 to 20 over the run. IATs where over 140 towards the end of the run which caused it to pull timing in the back half of the run.

The guys at Kaizenspeed are great. They are more than willing to answer any of my Noob tuning questions and give me advice on what I need to do to make a run at the 9s this fall. Straight meth certainly adds HP. Although, I think the 50/50 meth/water mix does a better job at holding down the IATs. Kaizenspeed thinks I should add a second noozle on the meth injection so I am looking into that.

I am surprised kaizenspeed doesn't bump up your IAT spark table. Mine doesn't start to pull timing until 154. With Meth you should be fine with no timing pull around 150. Would probably pick your trap up a couple mph.

I agree that some cooling is achieved with adding water and I've ran that for 2 years. Mike just thinks with my current setup and larger heat exchanger that we are doing pretty good on our intake temps so far and logging every run on the dyno and at the track we keep an eye on those critical areas that are so important in keeping a motor together. We start pulling timing at 150, last year with my higher compression motor we were pulling timing at 140 to keep detonation at a minimum and we've had no knock from this setup whatsoever. Last year it knocked too much and it could have caused some of the ring land issues plus running a lot of timing and boost.

It's a balancing act. With stock internals, running 11psi boost and 20 degrees of timing, currently I am pulling 1 degree at 140 and 4 degrees at 155. I have considered removing the 1 degree at 140, then it would not start pulling until I got over 140. Even at that it would pull some as the other day IATs at the end of the 1/4 was between 142 and 148 depending on the run.

On a side note I ordered the JMS Boost a pump the other day so that should take care of any fall off I was seeing in the low side fuel pressure. I upped the voltage in HP Tuners which gave me a 10% lift but not as much I wanted to see. The BAP should solve any low side concerns.

Thanks Josh. I got a few more changes planned. Just bought a set of used skinnies off a guy that did the 15" conversion, that will save me 40lbs of rolling weight. I will do some more testing at my local track but dont expect much better times until this fall, when I can get in some good air.

What PTM and TC setup are you using? I can’t get below 1.7 no matter what I do.
