ZL1 DSX flex fuel E85 help!
So...I currently have 2 17 ZL1’s...one is an auto and one is an 6-speed car. I purchased both used with some very similar mods, headers, CAI, pulley, and DSX flex fuel sensor and both tuned by reputable shops here in Houston.
I’ve had the 6-speed for about a month and have run 2 tanks of straight 93 in it. Yesterday I picked up the auto car and it is night and day faster, peppier, and all around more fun to drive...my thought was it still is running E85 in the tank. Based on dyno graphs, the auto is making 50 less RWHP than the 6-speed car. Tomorrow, my cousin and I are taking them both out for a local cruise and I want to run the corn in my 6-speed car for my first time. I forgot to ask the tuner of the 6-speed, what blend of E85 and 93 they were running in the car when it was tuned. The car, although makes over 50rwhp more than the auto isn’t nearly as fun to drive and seems like I have to spin it higher to get into boost. E85 guys with stock fuel pumps and cams, what “blend” or DIY are you doing when running E85 with your flex fuel sensor? Hate to blow anything up.............again. Cheers |

You need to ask the tuner what blend it was tuned for. Odds are it’s between 30-50% E.

keep it E55 or less just to be safe...some will say E60 is fine with the stock pulley and fuel system.

Thank you guys.
I was thinking I’d fill the tank up with 3/4 tank of 93 and add 1/4 of E85 to be safe. Thoughts!? |

standard 93 octane is 10% ethanol and E85 is never 85% ethanol so you can run 8-9 gallons of "E85" no problem per tank. You will likely be 50-55% E. Get some sort of gauge to measure the E content.

I just got in a gauge and gauge pod for the 6-speed and haven’t been in any hurry to get it and the Meth kit installed, but after driving the auto car...I feel like I’m going to put it under the knife sooner than later. The blue car is my avatar is the 6-speed car and I really really like the looks of it...I’ve just been unimpressed with its performance since day 1. |

Usually filling up on E85 I get about 66% ethanol. Have not hit higher than 75%. Have not seen any issues so far. It has only been about a week since I converted.
6 speed manual. Upper pulley. Cams, and CAI. Tune. |
