Could a 2020 Camaro be a collectors item?

Due to the production shut downs in Lansing MI due to COVID-19, could the 2020 (or anything from that year) be a collectors item because only a few were made that year?

Collectors items must be special and rare and desirable down the road.

So if you get your hands on a 1 of few, short run color, on the rarest of trims, you have a shot for rarity. Desirability can be improved through low # of owners, celebrity association, low miles, top condition, and choice of color/features.

Resale-Red-Hot and Black always help with desirability, but reduce your rarity. On the bright side, even with these more popular colors the total # of Gen6 M6 ZL1 Convertibles ever produced should be well under 500.

So for ultimate 2020 Gen6 collector, go for a Rally Green (or less-so Shock) ZL1 Vert M6 and put it in a museum for 50 years ...

... it might be worth something to your grandkids @ Barret Jackson 2070.

I'm sure they will. Petroleum based products and derivatives aren't replaceable by Energizer bunnies.

It may not be cheap, though.

We are enjoying the last hurrah of the V8, which is the main reason I bought my Camaro, the first (and probably the last) new car and the first V8 I've ever purchased.

My Black 2002 MN6 SS with T-Tops and tan leather is a weird colour combo..I had it appraised about 5 years ago for 17,000 and has certainly not depreciated since. It is in true show car state. Almost 20 years old and has 89,000 kms on it.
Not saying it will be a collector car, but certainly has levelled off in terms of value and if anything is going up.
When was the last time you saw an unmolested 4th gen out on the roads?

2019 with the flow tie will be... similar to the twin window Vette everyone hated them so they changed the design.

Nope.

And what if it does, anyway? Are you going to keep yours as a garage queen?

Drive it and enjoy it, man. If you want to stare at an immaculate car, there is this place called a museum where you can do that.

Not anymore than any other year Camaro outside of the first generation. The ZLE will likely be, but other than that, it's a fairly normal sports car in terms of collectability.

But just like any collector car, it will have to have low mileage, all or at least mostly stock, and never be abused to be very valuable.

Most people probably buy an ZLE to rule the track, not having it rot in a garage.

Sent from toaster or something

The 2020 no. The 2022 could be as the last gas Camaro. The 2023 is likely going to be electric. Ford is coming out with an electric mustang.

IMO unless they make a new Gasoline powered Camaro after the 6th Gen. The ZL1 1LE will be a classic collectors car no doubt, the standard ZL1 as well but to a lesser extent.
Once gasoline goes you'll even see an uptick in SS's and 1LE's.

It has been seen in Australia. in 2018 they closed all local car manufacturers. The final edition cars from Holden and Ford namely the HSV and FPV models have sky rocketed in price because they have left a massive hole in the new performance car market.

Once Gasoline goes the final big ticket editions of the Corvette, Camaro, Mustang, Challenger and Charger are going to be collectors items.
I imagine something as unique and rare like a Demon will see the greatest gains in prices. It all depends if Dodge makes one last gasguzzler hyper muscle car before they too go electric.
But your GT500's, ZL1 1LE's, Hellcat Redeyes will all be very desirable once everything is electric.
