Compression test result

I had a compression test done on my 2017 ZL1 (24K miles) after a cam install just to check it. I'm trying to find what the expected values are and I'm not finding anything, I also looked through the service manual.

Does anyone know what the expected values are for our engines?

Here are my results:
  • Cylinder 1: 168
  • Cylinder 2: 168
  • Cylinder 3: 170
  • Cylinder 4: 168
  • Cylinder 5: 170
  • Cylinder 6: 160*
  • Cylinder 7: 167
  • Cylinder 8: 170

Average : 167

#6 is the lowest but still within 10% of the others. GM allows 30%.

Problem with comparing to other's cranking numbers is that you've changed the camshaft. Bigger cam is going to cause a lower cranking compression number than you would have seen while the stock camshaft was still in there.

I've threatened to test mine but have thus far procrastinated.

Your right on the money for an Lt4 with 10 compression ratio. The Lt1's generally are 200 to 210 or maybe a little higher with a 11.5 compression ratio. To me what's most important is the tightness of the cylinders, 167 to 170 is just stellar. Your good to go

looks good...old school trick is to put a squirt of oil in the lowest cylinder and see if the compression increases significantly. The spread is reasonable and the new cam's overlap (intake and exhaust open at the same time) will lower cranking compression

my LT1 consistently shows 265+ lb compression. tested it several times over a 2 year span. engine always cold, after sitting at least a week.
