Help with launching at the drag strip
So i’ve had my zl1 up to the local strip a couple weeks in a row now and can’t for the life of me get a good 60ft. Best I can come up with is a 1.9 60ft on the cars best run of 11.78 at 125mph. Any suggestions? Car is completely stock with stock tires. I use linelock to do a good burnout and then use launch control. I didn’t use launch control once and spun all through 1st and 2nd. My goal is to get an 11.5 before modding. thanks for your time

Try PTM mode Track >> Sport 1 or Race with Launch Control.

no launch control, air down the tires to 22-24 psi, default exhaust to track mode and suspension to tour, and 5 sec burnout. Leave the shifter in D and don't use the paddles. Brake torque barely above idle (1200 rpm) and don't floor the accelerator pedal at launch. Launch with about 1/3-1/2 pedal then squeeze the rest of the way to the floor with a fluid motion. All of this is done quickly. If you are slamming the go pedal to the floor on green, you are shocking the tires and causing them to spin. Make sure to line up with the tracks from the last guy who ran who hopefully didn't drag water to the starting line. Good luck!

oh...turn off the traction control with a long depress (5-7 seconds) of the traction control button to disable traction control and stabilitrak.

Do like Stephen says. You need the weight to transfer to the rear and don't use launch control (it's not that great in this car) and let the car shift itself.
Don't forget to put the car into sport or track. |

The goal here is to not spin and not feather the throttle. Both are going to lead to bad 60ft times.
He needs a tire plain and simple for good times.

Leaving it in sport, or even worse track leaves the suspension hard as a rock ad doesn’t allow the rear end to shift like it wants/needs to.

My apologies as I was half asleep when I posted this. I did have all nannies off. I tried a bunch of things. I tried foot brake launch, launch control, and trying to launch right off idle. I had it in all sorts of modes here and there. I know I definitely want to get a drag pack later on but im trying to get to 11.5 stock trim, tires and all. I guess more seat time would help. im going to try a couple more times before drag tires and light mods. Thanks for the feedback

Seat time is the best and least expensive way to improve times. Stickier tires will help, too, but I said least expensive, lol. The longer you can keep the car in 1st gear the better it will do. I've read if you can keep the car from short-shifting into 2nd, you'll have a great pass. I can't say I've had great luck with that, but I haven't been to the track with this car yet. Street digs aren't exactly easy to get the best times from.

10.50s on the stock rubber is definitely doable. I was at the track and watched one pull consistent 11.40s at 124-25 multiple times. Actually pretty much hot lapping. Track surface was bad that night too so needless to say I was impressed. Car was bone stock minus a Corsa cat back.
Wish I could tell you his settings. If I run into him again I’ll ask but the track may be done for the year as snow will be flying soon |

OP’s issue is his 60ft which will get better with practice, but your still not going to get good 60ft times unless you have a drag on the rear.
