Camaro Replacement Battery
My car is about to turn 3, and it seems my battery is starting to have trouble holding charge. I rarely use my car, and should probably use a battery tender, but I try to start it every few weeks.
Any suggestions on a solid replacement battery that will not break the bank? I hear the OEM has very inconsistent performance and longevity. |

I am replacing mine after 4 years, few small start issues, but I think they were from a low key fob which I have just replaced. I bought the Delco Professional battery, have yet to put it in since I haven't had time and it looks to be a PITA to replace in the trunk...not cheap though, best price I found was $200.

At this point, I'd be comfortable walking into just about any store that sold batteries, buying the proper spec'd battery with whatever instore warranty they offer, can calling it a day. The majority are all made by Johnson Controls and I think 99% are made by either JC orExide. Overall, I don't feel batteries are quite as good as they used to be, but our cars certainly demand more out of them nowadays as well, so I dunno. Feels like they don't quite go as long as they used to. -But I've been buying Advance Auto's house brand "Gold" battery for all my cars, on the advice of a friend, for many many years now and I can't recall ever having a problem.
I love brand names, -and buying the latest and greatest. But I've come to feel through experience that batteries just aren't one of the places in my life where spending more makes a difference. |

I totally agree.. I just wondered if some people were buying those so called "light batteries" and if they were worth it.
Thanks for the feedback. |

Walmart's everstart 5 year warranty is fine, not an issue

Well lesson learned, right? You need to be connected to a battery tender. Starting your car every few weeks isn't gonna do it, unless you go for a drive for an hour or so. Instead, you are further depleting the battery by repeatedly starting the car and idling it for a few minutes.
There's nothing wrong with the OEM AC Delco battery. After properly caring for mine for 7 years, I replaced it as a precaution. Any battery will last a long time in a Camaro if properly cared for, because, being in the trunk, it's isolated from ridiculously hot conditions in the engine compartment. Really, all cars should have their batteries away from the engine. A battery tender is a really good investment. |

To answer the original question. Northstar and Odyssey batteries are amazing. Specially in long storage or for using when not charging(deep cycle). Cant go wrong with either choice. https://www.amazon.com/NORTHSTAR-Aut...66945431&psc=1 Nortstar https://www.amazon.com/Odyssey-Batte...69786470&psc=1 Odyssey(note 2 year open circuit rating.) Also note, both batteries are 10lbs heavier than the OEM ACDelco 94RPG. This is due to using pure lead. Instead of whatever cheap mixtue is in the ACDelco. just recently installed a northstar battery in my camaro. After doing tons and tons of research, I feel the northstar is one/if not the best battery to have. The extra weight is for sure there vs the Delco stocker. Fount it $10 cheaper at impact and free shipping. It was well packaged and drop shipped right from the northstar factory. Im very happy with my purchase. |

Just bought a Duralast platinum today to solve some starting issues I had, seems to be working fine. If I come across this thread again I'll provide an update. Roughly $200 after core and discount was reimbursed

For an Interstate battery, the model he listed is the correct one according to Interstates own web site. https://www.interstatebatteries.com/...earch-results# |
