Bump!

So my first time at the time was this past week at Sacramento. My best run was 13.64 @ ~106.5 with a 2.31 60' time. My car is bone stock. I was not thrilled with my time (saw the fast list of stock cars before I went), but then realized that perhaps the weather and track prep has something to do with it. I certainly do need more practice, though. I started off with my normal 38psi, then a few runs in I dropped to 25psi and that seemed to help. I have a feeling I'd want to run about 28psi next time....what are you guys running on stock Pirellis?

I got 7 runs in, started off around 14.2 and consistently gained about a tenth each run. I trapped 106 4 times, 105 a couple times. What I'm sad about is my trap speed. Even if I'm a crappy driver, or the track prep is poor, I hoped to trap 110 or so.

How much does hot weather affect the LS3? I guess I still think about the MM&FF article where they ran the LS1 Camaro to 12.89 @ 108 in the HEAT......and 108 is pretty much the fastest a stock 4th gen could trap.

My goal is to hit high 12s bone stock, maybe I need to wait for good weather and go to a prepped track?

Oh....and practice, of course. I need a lot. Can't be afraid to feather my clutch, because I had some crazy wheel hop. Next time I will hold the RPMs to around 3K and try to be really smooth with the clutch. Also I think I need to calm down a bit with the powershifting, I was chirping like crazy on the 1-2 shift.

I feel way more competitive now, but want to run my car stock at least one or two more times......then comes the mods.

How hot was it?

As for your time, the 60 is what is killing you the most, not the weather (though the weather can have a big effect). 2.3 60' is pretty bad. Get that down to a 2.1 or a 2.0 and you will be down toward a 13.1ish and then you can think about finding some colder weather

For reference, my best time is in my sig and the weather was cool but I also had a 60' of 2.3 :(

In order to hit 12s bone stock, you are going to have to get a TON better at launching. You won't hit 12s unless you can manage a 2.0 60 (minimum!) and get some cold weather. It's just going to take practice and believe me, the 6 speed is hard to launch so it will take a LOT of practice.

I was also at sac raceway last week. My times were a lot slower as well as all of my friends. The hot weather slowed everything down. My mph was 4 mph slower then usual. Didn't run my time til my last ru of the night.
