Looked at new zl1 today.

Went to a dealer today to look at a $37,785 LT1. The real cost was $40376. They added 3M window tint $499, Nitrogen filled tires $399, All weather mats $499, 3M door protection $399 (didn't find that anywhere) and spoiler $795. That is aa $2,591 increase in price.

When I questioned the added cost he told me I was lucky they didn't add an ADM to the price.

I don't think I will be buying from that dealer. It's too bad to because it is one of the largest dealers near by.

From the interwebs:
"Air is made up of 78.09% nitrogen, 20.95% oxygen, 0.93% argon, 0.04% carbon dioxide, and other gases in meager amounts."

be fortunate those are mostly tangible items...
several dealers in cali we called on were adding between 2500-3k and all were the same: window tint, door protection and gps tracking(to the tune of $1500 from 3 dealers). one dealer offered to sell us the car and knock the "extras" down to "cost" at $990.
might try to negotiate it down. I'd give them $700 for the spoiler but the other $1400 in crap, I'd offer them $500 for a total of $1200.

we ended up at huntington beach mazda and no add-on's there on any car.

I think they just replaced the tire valve caps with those little green ones. I wonder if you and check to see if the tires really have nitrogen in them.

They would need to take all the air out of each tire and refill them with Nitrogen. I can't imagine they would do that.

For $399, I would demand they apply a vacuum to each tire to get the last bit of that bad air out before replacing with nitrogen!

Bought my 2ss car last october, before the insanity hit. Dealer I got it from had the same add ons for nitrogen fill, GPS tracking, and some type of paint protection. Going into winter with 4 camaros on their lot, each at $51k plus each. I told them I would buy the car, but wasnt paying for any of the add ons. They wrote off all the addons and sold me the car that day, plus took an additional amount off to make the otd cost a certain number. To me that stuff is just dealer profit, plain and simple.

Those are the types of dealers I tend to stay away from and 400 bucks for Nitrogen is just LOL. I am actually surprised the window tinting that was done didn't end up being more expensive I have seen that be a 1k dealer add on before.

I think they meant 1LZ which is the actual model number for the LT1 trim

Just to play the devil's advocate for a few seconds (and no, I haven't researched this yet), it may not necessarily be about the amount of nitrogen the tires will have but the oxygen that they will not have, which could mean, say, less corrosion or degradation from the inside.

Now, even if true, is this worth $400? Probably not, but I'd look into it before dismissing the idea completely.
