FBO and e85 question

Ok, so I have a Lethal Garage flex fuel sensor otw and I also plan on buying some headers from Speed Engineering here soon. Should I wait to have both installed, then get a tune? Or can I get my e85 tune first and then worry about the tune for my headers later? I just didn’t know if tuners would tune for both your E and headers for the same price or would they still charge you separately?

Do it all at once. Most tuners charge to retune.

You can ask. Some will update the tune at no charge as long they install the new parts. Worst thing they say is no.

As far as I’m aware, the e85 tune is a separate tune. I just got it done. Had a 93 tune yesterday, e85 tune today. I’ll be picking up my car tomorrow if work allows if not Saturday. But excited to see the results. Full bolt on and E85.

So tuners are nice enough to tune for headers and e85 for the price of one? Or am I sounding retarded lol

No, AGAIN, from what I understand, E85 is a different tune. I would still do it at the same time, however, you're paying for 2 tunes regardless.

i think this varies from tuner to tuner. typically i think ethanol is an additional charge, not the full amount of another tune. ie $100 extra while the car is there and on the dyno. if it's done like you did it i can see it costing more as there is more time/labor involved.

So the way I did it, they tuned me for 93, then tuned again for E85. E85 was an additional $350 cost. I am in North Jersey and everything is just more expensive here. But it was for sure 2 separate tunes. The first tune was $800.

would depend on the tuner. I go through pray performance and he does free re-tunes.

I had my tune done by Ted Jannetty. He did a full E85 tune and I am good to run 91 or E85. I asked him about that and if I were to put 91 in if it would need to be tuned for that as well. He said that since it was a full E85 tune it was tuned for 91 as well. I only run E85 unless I am somewhere that doesn't have E85. So to me if the tuner does a full E85 tune it will run on both, at least when Jannetty Racing does the tune.

I have a 2021 LT-1 and tuners in area are telling me nobody's broken into 21s yet. Is that true? Thanks

i should have specified. you are correct, it is 2 separate tunes, but will (typically) not cost twice as much if done at the same time. (imho) one of the best tuners in the country did my car and it was an additional $100 for ethanol. didn't take long at all.

had i gone back after getting a 93 only tune i know it would have cost more but idk how much exactly. he charged per hour for touch-up/retunes. all tuning was done on his dyno and verified with several pulls on the street.
