Did it once and it made the brakes feel very inconsistent. Initial pedal application did nothing and then all of a sudden the pads started to bite. Was disconcerting..

Saw this video where it is suggested that pad taper affects pedal feel (travel) and swapping them is a good idea.
I haven't noticed this myself but I can pay attention next time.

My theory about pad taper is that the caliper has different piston sizes, the bottom part of the caliper may be hottest, and/or the pads simply don't wear well with a lot of heat.

I wonder if anyone has experienced a lot of taper with higher temperature compounds, or if added brake cooling reduces taper on stock pads. I've added the SS deflector kit to my ZLE but don't have any data yet on whether it helps.

I’ve been experiencing pad taper primarily up front and just remember to flip my pads around between events. Setup is Hawk DTC70 pads, titanium shims, SRF, and I also added the oem SS brake deflectors to my 1LE.

How many days are you getting out of the 70s? I killed a brand new set in one day at Road America (82 laps).

I got two full days in this past June at Road America. 6 sessions each day ~ 80 total laps. I’ve noticed at other tracks I’m getting more life - even ones with decent straights and braking zones.

Ok. That’s about equal amounts of track time.
