Talking lsa/ls9 cam swap

im sure this is a common question to ask and im also sure this question may have been asked before but here it goes...

I have a 2011 Camaro ss and my ls3 just recently developed rod knock. motor is done so I decided to buy a crate motor lsa that comes in the Zl1. but I can leave well enough alone and I wanna get a cam. I heard on a few fb forums that an ls9 cam helps pick up a decent amount of hp in the top end as well as give it a great lope. my question is this.... has anyone thrown a stock ls9 cam in their ZL1? if so what other valve train upgrades have you used to go with it ?

There are plenty of cam manufactures that have lopey cams of the shelf or they can custom grind one for you that is designed to work with your mods.

Yes, people have done it. I believe the valve springs are the same part number between lsa and ls9. I know of at least one person (can't remember who) on here that just slid in the ls9 cam and left everything else the same in the valvetrain. I believe most people say you'll gain about 25 or 30 rwhp with the ls9 cam, but for the time and effort, you might as well get something that will add some REAL horsepower.
