Thanks arpad m for giving Sandy the link on this.

Sandy when you read through the thread I started on this you will probably say - no it can't be as simple as adding one cable between the body and engine of the car to make this go away. That is what I thought up front as well when I decided to just try adding another ground cable because it was cheap and easy to do. It has been over three months and with many many drives and stops since I added the cable. I have not had one instance of slow cranking - none!

Read through the thread as there are several ways to add the cable. Find one you like and do it. You have nothing to lose but a few bucks and 20 minutes of your time. If the added cable doesn't help then you may have a fried starter.

Good luck and report back how it turns out.

There is a class action lawsuit filed against GM for known starter failures, sometimes resulting in damaged wires, starter, and starter fuse, and other electronics.
I did a search but didn’t find anything about this suit? My car is on the shop today because it wouldn’t start when warm, the battery was damaged, as well as the starter.
I’d like to find out how to add my name to the lawsuit?
If you know of a link, please post it.

Chevrolet Admin, please message me about this issue. It’s very concerning.

Update: GM refuses to cover this known problem under warranty. Total cost for having the starter, ground wire to the starter, and labor: $1,177 plus tax. That does not include $200 for a new battery to replace the ruined one. Just fuk.
