I wasn't aware either of the "rules" of any "game" based on just that one post of yours, but the truth (that MackSteelPrivateEye implicitly confirmed) is that what one actually experiences is torque, and the sub-4k torque that one typically can use in daily driving is much more drastically different between the LGX and the LT1. Again, this is far from the entire story with regard to daily driving a car, and I never claimed that it is. Now that that OP keeps mentioning "love" and "enjoyment" and seems not overly concerned with the financials, however, I'm leaning towards recommending the LT1 or even the LT4 for the ultimate "oh, s**t" experience.

I have a 2019 2SS and daily drive it 28 miles one way. The gas mileage it gets is very good for what it is. If I baby it, I can get 30+ MPG. The best is 34.5 over 25 miles if you trust the car computer. That doesn't happen often though. It levels out for me at about 22 MPG including the non-commute driving I do. That's still better than my wife's Explorer. I also looked at the V6, added up the money difference, and finally said screw it and bought an SS. I've also now put a Borla S-type exhaust on it. It rumbles through the parking ramp at work when I fire it up with my remote from a distance. Ha! I haven't looked back. Except when I'm walking into work after parking my car!

Op, I live in the Raleigh area and I daily commute with my 2018 ZL1 M6. By the rationing of some of the posters before me, this is a terrible thing to do. But I really don't give a shit. I love driving this car. And like you said, on the weekends, I usually mainly drive our 2019 Ram with the whole family in it.
If all you want is something that looks good for a daily, you are better off with the 3LT as others have said. It gets good mileage and burns regular gas. Since we have 4 vehicles and 3 drivers, I have another vehicle available on the rare occasions where we get snow and/or ice on the road. But, unless there is snow and/or ice on the road, I drive the ZL1 my 18 miles to work in RTP. Love it. Is it practical? Hell no. As I stated earlier, I don't care. I enjoy driving this beautiful beast. Since I work from home 2 days a week and in the office 3 days a week, I only put 9,000 miles on her the first year. I have had her a little over a year and a half now and have just eclipsed 13,000 miles. So, getting ready to do an oil change, trans flush with Royal Purple Synchromax, and another diff fluid change (did the initial at 2000). But, all that said, if you want a 2SS, then get it. The only thing about that decision that you will regret over time may be the amount you are paying in gas. And I second what another poster said about mag ride. It is definitely worth it. Whatever you decide, post pictures when you get it. Cheers!

My closest Towns are 42 miles North and 45 miles South of me. All but 6 miles of it I-15. With my 1SS I regularly get 28 mpg. And the I-15 commute is 80 mph limit so I'm 85-90 mph.
An acquaintance has a 2018 with the V6 and it's a VERY solid commuter car IMHO. If your not going to track it or care about a slightly faster 0-60, etc. Go V-6 for the diminished fuel cost and better MPG. I'm 6-3 and 205 pounds. I've done several 10-12 hr diving days on trips with mine and have been comfy. |

My 2017 2SS A8 is daily driven. I live in Northern Ohio and have no problems. I switch between summer and winter tire setup. The Camaro snow and ice mode works great. I average 20.5 MPG city and highway.
In December I am having heads, cam, msd and engine/trans tune. Keeping it NA because it my daily driver. I never understood why people spend big money on cars and motorcycles to let them sit in a garage. Just run it, tomorrow may never come. |

My advice is to get what you want and can afford!

I commute over 30 miles one way 5 days a week. I enjoy the sound of the V8 every time I drive it. Get the SS because eventually you will want that extra power later on down the road. Good luck with your decision

I was looking at a privately owned 981 Cayman (second to latest generation) and had 62K miles on a 2014 Model year. The current owner has had it 3-4 years and it's his commuter car in the LA area to work. Weekends they drive the family car w/ the kids and what not. For people in this situation that want to have a nice sports car, why not enjoy it daily?
Sure - you could do better mpg with a Prius or some EV, but most of these cars get pretty good mpg on freeway drives. Even my Panamera V8 gets 28-29 on a road trip. The difference between that and something that gets another 10mpg is minuscule in the grand scheme of things. |

For probably about the same price as a new 2SS, you can step into a Tesla Model 3 AWD long range and enjoy better than ZL1 performance for 2SS prices and zero gas consumption.
And, you won't need to suffer the cost of having to buy another vehicle (crew cab truck/large SUV) just to haul the kids around. You can take them along with you when you accelerate from 0-60 in 3.2 seconds. The future is already here! |
