Gen 6 locking gas door

Has anyone found a locking gas cap/door for the 6th gen Camaro? I know there's one for the 5th gen.

I haven't yet found a 6th gen-specific aftermarket one that is a guaranteed fit.

Interestingly, EU/Asia Camaro models have a locking fuel door that is integrated with the BCM and locks with the doors automatically, but neither the solenoid nor the software is installed on US cars (you can still see the hole in the shaft inside the fuel door where the "deadbolt" locking pin would go).

You might want to try the dealership, perhaps they can source the EU-specific parts and flash a BCM update, although I'm sure it isn't cheap even if possible.

Yeah, the above post about covers it. You could potentially try to rig up your own device to do it, but even then, I am not sure if it's strong enough to withstand serious attempts.

But it's really a non-issue. From what is said on GM Authority, it's very difficult to siphon gas out of capless filler on our Camaros. So yeah, they may get a few gallons of that 87 gas(since you have a V6, which only requires 87) if they are lucky, but not enough to leave you stranded.

Mechanisms in the fuel filler neck make it nearly impossible to siphon more than a few gallons of gas

I think the concern is putting something in, not taking something out.

That's the main reason why I'm asking. I can see a handful for small rocks or sugar put in the tank by some jack-hole.

That's interesting. I'll have to poke around a little and see what I can dig up. Maybe order online from a car dealer from Asia.

Thanks.

Someone would have to be pretty persistent to do this. The fuel filler has two valves inside. One is the one you can see when you open the fuel door, and there is another one deeper down, so the offender would need a tool to reach inside to open that valve to throw anything in there. That's why you have a fuel filler funnel in the trunk, in case you need to fill gas from a canister.

Honestly, it's just so much easier and quicker to slash tires for vandalists than throwing crap into the gas tank. All you need is a sharp knife and it will work on every car they come across. Heck, just key the car if vandalism is the goal here. It takes longer and is thus easier to get caught in the act to do things to gas tanks, and it's not guaranteed to work. I have seen incidents of slashed tires, but never anything related to fuel tank shenanigans.

I mean, you do you, but depending on how difficult this is, it may or may not be worth it. If there is enough demand, I would think Gen5DIY and others have a solution already. If I am that concerned, I would probably just see if I can mod the fuel door itself first to lock it. Probably a lot cheaper that way.

It's just a matter of getting the part. Wire the solenoid parallel to the door locks and you good to go.
