Tail Light Removal Help

Trying to remove tail lights. I have the top plastic trim on each side removed and also the center trim panel. The GM instructions for tail light removal show 3 nuts and 2 "retainers: on each side. 2 Nuts on inside and center and i believe the retainer locations are closest towards the quarter panel. WHat do you use to remove the retainers? Its hard to see back in there and i really cant feel anything obvious for removal...

just remove the 3 nuts and pull on the tailight, it'll just pop out. have done it numerous times. takes a little tugging on it to get it to pop.

Not trying to resurrect this thread but to add a little bit of advice... the two retainers on either side were not going to release the light assembly without a fight and rather than risk chipping/scratching paint in the tug-a-war I used a body dolly (big rock would work) and just tapped the studs from inside the trunk. They popped out nicely and in a controlled manner with no ill effects. Another tip... the plastic rivets that hold the trunk side panels were mangled in the disassembly and I notice the re-usable rivets from the third gen Camaros fit perfectly and when it comes time to replace your battery they let go easier and can be re-used. Napa has them under part number 665-1316. They fit perfectly, look like the belong, come out easy... and go back it snug!

Ya, was like why didn't they use the same quick re-usable rivets like the plates had, specially since the battery was behind the one side.

Replacement retainer

Does anybody know where I can get a replacement tail light retainer? I snapped one while removing my tail light. Was a little frustrated because somebody busted my light.

Not to resurrect this thread yet again, but 2 issues in trying a taillight housing removal - retainer on the trunk liner impossible to remove. Using the proper panel remove tools - was so tight the bracket behind the panel bent trying to remove it and screwed up the liner a bit in the process. Ok - so all 3 nuts removed on the rear of the housing - tugged and tugged - car is rocking - no way on god's green earth that thing is coming out. Tried the tap on the studs option - no way. So, if anyone has any further advice - would love to hear what others have done. It ain't as easy as these online videos seem to imply. Thanks in advance for any advice you may have.
