Nope we all get the clunky notchy temp sensitive tr6060. Seriously tempted to drag a t56 out of a junker and build the piss out of it and use that instead. Might have to mod the tunnel hmmm.... Least I can do the work myself instead of having to deal with the stupid proprietary custom pullers needed just to get the case off the tr6060.

The ZL1 uses MJK variant of the TR6060 and the SS the MM6. Their clutches are also different.

I thought I saw My Wyndham post up that the 6th gen 1LE and ZL1 use the exact same transmission and clutch assembly.

I drained out the RP MAX ATF today and swapped over to the RP Syncromax fluid. So far so good, shifting is even better than it was on the RP MAX ATF.

If you want to call different variants of the 6060, the "same" I suppose. The ZL1 clutch and tranny are both a bit more robust to handle the extra power.

Interesting... That I can believe. It sounds like what I would expect. I did a lot of digging before and after buying my new ZL1 trying to determine whether the M6 was different but I was unable to come up with these details. Could you post a reference? I'd like to include it in my personal notes.

Its due to all those little differences that makes it impossible to create a ZL1 by modding an SS, although some try.

So after 3 days of driving with the RP Syncromax in the TR6060 I can honestly say it does make a very noticeable improvement and difference in shifting smoothness and feel even over the already better feel the RP MAX ATF was providing.

Just finished it up! Ended up removing the cross member. I didn't have the patience to get to that drain plug lol. Shifts are noticeably better. Not perfect bit worth the 70 bucks it cost me to get the fluid and pump. Going to put it to the test tomorrow if the weather permits lol.

Glad to hear it. Yeah, I'm not 100% satisfied with the transmission either. I can't help wishing they'd bring back an updated version of the old Muncie transmissions of the 60's and 70's. They were so smooth and easy to shift. Although I haven't driven one, I've heard that the Corvette C7's Tremec TR-6070 has very smooth shifting.
