Stock ZL1 1/8 mile
Hitting the 1/8 mi this weekend & am curious what I should expect.
Did some snooping around the forum & in the fast 1/8 thread & saw only 1 ZL1 that was really modded. Also looking for input on what the consensus is for best tire pressure on the stock SC3’s. Not expecting the best possible time, just curious & looking to have a long overdue day of racing. FYI, I’m at about 1200’ Elevation. |

22-24psi. Turn off all of the traction aids (stabilitrak/traction control). Only preload against the brake barely above idle (1000ish rpm) and squeeze the throttle down (don't stomp). Make sure to line up in the tire tracks of the groove at the starting line. My best 1/8 mile runs in my '17 ZL1 A10 were 7.19-7.27 with very good air.

I think low 7's is the average for a stock 6th gen ZL1.

Is that low of tire pressure an issue for the TPMS?

7.4-7.6 is middle of the road for stock ZL1s

Just got back. Times were boofed so we just got MPH. Best run was right at 102MPH. Good enough for 3rd place trophy for stock class.

I was hoping it would have been a tad higher, but another guy there had 17 Z06 that was trapping consistent 103’s with a best of 105. So I guess for the day & the surface it’s about what I could expect.
There was another feller with sweet a RS3 that was running right with us & 103 traps. I’m seriously considering one of those for a family sedan. |
