I said I'd never do it, but I couldn't resist

I couldn't resist anymore and decided to go Flex Fuel E85 or something close to that. You know I just built a new motor over the winter months and got tired of paying 14.00 a gallon for race fuel and everyone else is doing it so I thought I would to. I purchased a Pray Flex Fuel kit and one of our Magnuson boost a pumps so I'm switching sides. I've only driven 1400 miles in the last two years, but over 180 passes down the track. I want to drive more so E fits my future better and I can still make about 775 to 800 rwhp with a little Meth on about 10-11 lbs of boost, plus I'll add a couple nozzles of Meth. I'm actually looking forward to driving some more on the street. Might even do the power tour this year.

corn is the way to go..... my car still runs fine on 93, but corn is that extra bit... I can almost smell the Vodka on a cold morning... the smell of victory... welcome to the corn side....

Bout time. I spent a lot of extra money so I could run E85 with a stock fuel lobe, but at 1.99 a gallon for 100+ octane it will pay for it's self fast since my car is all street. Love the smell and how clean it burns too. And it should help the stock pistons hold up better since it pulls the heat out of the Pistons better then 93.

Hey guys here's a question. What would you think the results/benefits would be if I lowered the boost down by going back to my stock 4.00 pulley and running E85. vs the smaller pulley and sticking with 93 I have now.

I think I would need a fuel cam to run e85 with the setup I have now.

Russ your the main reason I switched after seeing how yours performs it was a no brainer and yes I finally have all the pieces in the fuel system that it requires to run corn. Should have it all installed next week and then maybe some tuning and dyno time shortly after that. Plus when I did the Manley Pistons and Rods I lowered the compression 1 point to 10.5, that should assure me that I'll have less detonation and cooler temps which is a good thing. Thanks for the support.

Well originally I didn't have the fuel system on the old motor and had been so used to running race fuel that was always the same every time I opened the drum and just thought E85 was not going to be the same every fill up. Now that more are seeing greater gains and fuel systems have come down in price somewhat I changed my mind. I may not like it and go back to race fuel but right now I'm willing to try it. I do want to drive my car more on the street and didn't really want to switch back and forth between race fuel and 93 octane as I did when I first went to race fuel. I'd look in my shop and my Camaro was just sitting on the lift and this way I can drive on the street then put the drag pack on and load it in the enclosed trailer and go racing. Best of both worlds.

We have a lot of stations in Missouri. Plus I might still run some VP109 race fuel at some events or maybe a combination of E and Vp109 if I'm going to run more boost like at the Camaro Fest or Ls Fest where I really want to run faster. We'll find out in a couple weeks what kind of power I can make on my current fuel system without running out of fuel or injector

The stoich rating of VP109 is 13.41

The stoich rating of E85 is 9.765

I would choose one at a time and run it without any "mixing"

my .02

Matt just finished up the install on that and the boost a pump. I need to drive my car this weekend and burn up some VP 109 so I can pick up some E for dyno tuning the next weekend.
