Snow in wheel/wheel well/crazy vibration.

So I have some brand new snow tires...but had some crazy bad vibration going on above 35mph today. The steering wheel jerks back and forth, a steady, strong amount, but the car moves straight and true when you let go of the wheel.

I'm guessing that I have ice/snow jammed in my wheel well, or perhaps in the wheel throwing off the balance, but I'm not sure of the best way to get that out of our cars.

I have the 18" black steel wheels, on a 2LS.

I was thinking, instead of just jabbing into my wheels with the back of my ice scraper, of going to a drive through car wash that I frequent. They have water that blasts up, and perhaps it will melt/dislodge it.

Any other suggestions?

I was concerned I did something to my alignment conquering the snow, but because the car doesn't actually pull in one direction or the other, I think it's the off balance wheel. I appreciate any input you guys have.

A friend's conversation with her friend...

"...the police are going to mistake our car for the car they are looking for."
"Like, 'My Cousin Vinny'."
"That happened to your cousin Vinny?"

Snow is heavy. Mass x Acceleration = force! Take it to a spray wash.

Check inside of your rims. Had that this morning as well thought I had a flat stopped got out and there was snow packed in the inside of the front rim on the passenger side. Cleaned it out and the car drove normal.

Good to see you again OP! Keep us posted after you get your rims cleared. I'll bet you'll be just fine.

Has the vibration been there since the snow tire install ? If so it definitely is a tire balace issue....or a weight has fallen of one of the rims.Snow in the wheel well wouldn't create a vibration. And really after many hard winters I don't think I've had a problem with snow build up on the rims. Or one of the tires could be bulging.

Happened all the time in Colorado for me, ****ing snow freezes around Hub and the wheels. I used a de icer and a screwdriver laying on back in my duty uniform, my first line always laughed at me coming in wet.
