SIRIUS XM promo.
My subscription expires Dec 1 so as agreed, i called Sirius to cancel or extend my service. I have always paid $31.25 for the year after explaining that my Camaro is stored much of the time. The best deal I could get now is $31.25 for 6 months or $99.00 for another year...... Goodbye Sirius.

need it for a car I only drive a couple times a week. Also, my early build SS has a CD player so I'm all set.

I had Sirius once with a new Jetta. It gets old pretty fast.
I renewed once just to give it a shot but never used it. Called to cancel and they immediately dropped the price from $80 a year to $40 a year. Once they get your card, it's very difficult to get them to cancel your order...Don't give them your card... |

I called them last month...I subscribe to the package that has some extra stuff, so I was paying about $16 a month. I said, it's too much, I can't afford it because of the holidays, so I need to cancel.
I got them down to $25 for 6 months. (FYI, that was always my intent. It seemed they only offered the discounts to retain subscribers, so I subscribed this past July monthly).

I've never seen the value in it. For $4/month I use Slacker. I can select which songs I want to hear, arrange playlists, skip songs I don't like. XM only allowed me to get set songs, on set stations, and can't skip.

1) My Camaro is a 2LS with no audio over Bluetooth, or USB stick. So if I want more music than is on the CD in my player (even if it is loaded with MP3s), I'd have to either change CDs, or screw around with my phone while driving (skipping songs on the touch screen of my phone while playback via aux). I can skip around a bunch of channels and find something over XM, without moving my hands from the steering wheel. Other cars, where you have everything accessible, I can see less value. 2) Discovering new music. Even with something like Pandora that suggest music you like, it's rare to discover something new. I've found some cool bands I didn't know of on Liquid Metal and Ozzy's Boneyard. 3) Great for guests in your car. My mother LOVES Elvis (I do as well), so when I drive her around I'll throw on the Elvis station. There are recordings they play that neither one of us have ever heard. It's pretty cool for Elvis fans. This way, a guest may be in your car that enjoys a genre you don't have with you, and can find something they dig. So those are just some reasons why it's worth about $5 a month for me.

I like Sirius XM, but have never dealt with stupider customer service people in my entire life. I mean, these people are so dumb that I am really surprised that they are able to remember to respirate regularly, blink without reminders, and can form simple words.
The entire IQ of all Sirius XM customer service employees added together, then squared, probably wouldn't make a three digit number. |
