Look at the Z/28. It went from a pure track car, to a grocery getter that had nothing to do with handling. So yeah, I won’t support that. It happened to the Z/28, the Grand Sport and the Z06. Now it’s happening to the 1LE. Bean counters and managers see something generating hype and want to milk it for every dollar they can, even if that means stripping it of everything that made it exciting in the first place.

Wonder if there will be increased heat with the A10 in the ZLE as there is with the A8 Z06 on the track that will cause possible overheating? I don't think it will be an issue in the ZL1 1LE like it is in the Z06. Time will tell as these cars get pushed hard on the track in the summer months.

I think this is awesome news!
There are many reasons to love a high performance sports car. But for me, In the end its all about who can get from point A to point B the fastest. And the 10A ZLE will be faster than the 6M PERIOD. I get the love of the connection felt with rowing through your own gears. That's why I have a 6M Mazdaspeed Miata parked next to my ZL1 10A And to be quite frank..this 10A that GM/Ford has come up with is really something special and quite fun to drive. I found a way to have my cake and eat it too. |

Options are always a great thing. It's good to see growth in this segment. For those who have been waiting for the A10 to show up in the ZLE, go get some.
GM Authority confirmed http://gmauthority.com/blog/2019/01/...-transmission/ that there will be "unique track mode calibrations" in the A10 for ZLE. As well as confirming recalibration to PTM and ELSD for 2019. To be perfectly honest, I am curious about these changes. Mike has eluded to them in his 2019. Hello Mr. Dickens... perhaps a software update available for the 2018s??? With that said, I posted this a year or so ago. My feelings have not changed. I understand that I will never be as fast as I could be rowing gears as I would be having my gears shifted for me by a computer. With that said, the experience (for me) is much more ethereal in analog than it is in digital. My connection with the car is so much more sublime in manual. When I am in that place, I will gladly give up a few 10ths per lap in exchange for the realization that it was my kindred bond with the guts of that machine that got me to my goals. As opposed to reaching that target via the latest digital technological innovation. Old school, I guess. Whether on the track or on a Sunday drive, it's so much more satisfying to me to be an integral part of the mechanical workings in the alliance between me and my car. If my livelihood depended on my lap times for food on the table and paying the bills; no brainer, give me the A10/ DCT. It doesn't, so I choose to fill my soul with the integral relationship between my skill set, my experience and my machine. No question. If I were purchasing a ZLE tomorrow or, if I was in the market for a C8 or a GT500, I'd hold out for the manual. ...but I will take the software update!

I've often wondered how close the "regular" ZL1 A10 lap times would be to the 1LE if it had the same R compound rubber and wider front tires to match what is on the 1LE. Anyone on this forum try this already? I realize there are more differences than just the tires...just a hunch that the tires make a bigger difference than the suspension and aero. I could be 100% wrong. It didn't make a difference in my buying decision one way or the other...both cars are beyond my track driving ability to get the last few tenths off a lap time and I wanted something that's a bit more around town friendly.
I'm very interested to see what the A10 1LE published lap times will be...these 6th Gen cars are just amazing for the $$$. |

I'm not mad at all. I still think that on the SS 1LE platform, an automatic would have made it even more of a complete package than it is currently--and I love manual transmissions. Now that they're adding this to the ZL1 1LE, perhaps it'll find its way to other 1LE trims, too. Not that I'm in the market for another car but, that's pretty awesome.
