Interesting.

Probably dealers dumping inventory at huge discounts.
It is sad that the big selling point for 2021 is a new boomer maroon.
How much longer can they starve this car?

I just played golf with a GM and Ford supplier and they can't make parts fast enough to satisfy their needs. That's a good sign.

No, not directly.

If there is to be a 2023 anything new we should see camo cars in spy photos this spring. Keep in mind GM had a big hoopla on the Lyriq and it’s out in 2022.....with no spy photos yet.

No spy photos to date says for sure no 2022.

From personal experience dealers are throwing out decent trade-ins.

That’s the main precursor for making deals.

W00T! I was one of the peeps that got theirs in July!

I think a lot of that uptick were the LT1 models.

No dealer in my area had one until I ordered mine. Now, I see 2 were ordered.

While I was taking delivery (paperwork, etc.), Another salesman told me that he had customers wanting to take it for a test drive.

About 100%? About? It's EXACTLY 100%.

There's no statement anywhere that the 22% "increase" is year-over-year, either. Yet, that's what the article goes on to use as "data points". Additionally, with ZERO sales (or very near zero sales) through many days of Q1 and Q2 starting very slowly, that so-called increase could be nothing more than a collective handful of purchasers that were going to buy earlier in the year and simply didn't walk away.

This appears to be yet another click-bait article with no real demonstrable facts behind it.

Not sure any dumping is involved, I'm in the market (for either new or used) and there are maybe 4 2020's available within 100 miles of me. It doesn't seem like the dealers were giving them away...

If you haven't noticed, both markets are cray cray. I read the average used car is worth $2000 more now than pre-pandemic.

I had a hard time finding the 2020 that I bought at the beginning of June. Used Car prices are reported to be up about 4-5% from what I read. "Averages" like you posted are hard to understand in terms of what it means for a specific car.

I sold my 2016 SS for basically what I paid for it 18 months ago, Carvana then resold it for $4,000 more!
