Steering wheel normal wear and tear?

Does this look like normal wear and tear as the dealership says. 2016 with 25k miles. I dont wear any rings or use any lotions. It is the bottom left corner. I noticed it when I picked it up from the shop, it had electrical problems.

Hard to argue either way. Don’t think you will get this replaced unless you have a very accommodating dealer

I guess the bumper to bumper is out since it's past 3 years. If it wasn't you could've peeled a bit of the bottom black piece and they'd replace the entire steering wheel under warranty.

Haven't had any issue like this except the black piece peeling, '16 84k miles

My steering wheel shows very little wear. I have over 55K miles, wear a wedding ring, and use lotion for dry skin sometimes.

That does not look like normal wear and tear to me.

Doesn’t look normal to me!

You said bottom left corner...I would bet that someone (could be you, could be tech) getting in and out had something in their right hip pocket that caught on or catches on the steering wheel. It definitely looks like the cover was pulled in one direction.

I have done damage to the steering wheel of a car when the clip of my pocket knife snagged it on my way in. Learned real quick to be more careful but it was already too late for that wheel.

Damn! Can’t see how this is “normal” unless you grip the living hell out of that steering wheel!

Was just going to ask him what type of knife he uses. 100% agree.

Good news is that this is a goof opportunity to change/upgrade the wheel. Wheels are generally inexpensive and easy to replace (just make sure you have a high quality torx bit and unplug the battery)

Looks like someone could have been wearing a pretty large belt buckle and the steering wheel took a bad rub against it. That doesn't look like normal wear.

Do you wear a ring? The steering wheel on our Honda has marks on the left side similar to that because of my wife's wedding ring. Once I figured that out her and I do not wear the rings while driving anymore.

the "leather" wheel on my kia did the same thing, although not as bad. It was from where I got in and out of the car and my right thigh rubbed it a bit. I make sure to not do that with my current car, due to that.
