How much more HP to get M6 to A10 times?

Really having a tough time deciding which transmission to get. I almost have ruled out the A10 and really want a M6 but I like the 0-60 and 1/4 times of the A10.

Been wondering, how much HP would you need to add to the M6 to match or beat the stock A10 times?

Seems I would have the best of both worlds if I can get the M6 but still be just as fast as the A10. I know lots of variables in times with drivers, weather, etc but you get the idea I'm looking for. With the bad launches probably need to really get some power mid stride.

I would also want the easiest way to achieve this so probably bolt ons if all possible. Also how much would all this cost, seeing how the A10 option is around $1500.

Not more horsepower, more driving skill. How much more driving skill to get M6 to A10 times?

It’s been done.

I'm just going by the numbers put out by Chevy. The M6 is .2 seconds slower 0-60 and .4 seconds in the 1/4 than the A10.

I know in the fast list there are people who beat Chevy's numbers with both transmissions but the A10 is still faster.

I'm just wondering how much HP do you need to consistently match or beat the A10?

You say more driving skill, so how much more HP does cwebster need, who is 5th on the list, to move to the top?

He has an 11.6 and says in one of his threads that 11.4 is possible with the right conditions with the M6. The A10's have a 11.6,11.4,11.2, and a 11.1.
So if 11.4 is the best he can do, what does he need to get and spend to get 11.2 or 11.1?

I think youre getting too hung up on numbers. If you want a M6, buy it and save on the GG tax and the transmission cost. Get what you want and if you think it's slower buy a Cold air intake like a RotoFab and a Tony mamo throttle body for a few extra hp. A lot of the difference in the real world comes down to driver skill. Buy the M6, learn to drive it well, and enjoy it.

We would need to see your slip to tell you how much more HP YOU would need. Make sense? Unless you're capable of taking it to its limits to begin with, hero times don't matter.

From the sounds of it, my stock M6 will beat your future A10 anyway. Not trying to be mean, but to make a point.

Get what you're going to be happiest driving.

You can't necessarily go by that since you aren't factoring in weather conditions and track prep. If you take his 11.6 and compare it against the AVERAGE A10 time (which looks to be about 11.4-11.5), then they're pretty close stock for stock. There's also a .2 difference between a8 and m6 in the ss cars and no variance with the c7z a8/m7 when both are equipped with aftermarket tires and stock power (this is just checking their fast list, so take that for what it's worth)

I know you're talking about GM numbers, but motor trend claims the same times as GM for the zl1, yet claims they got 0-60 done in 3.5 with the 1le version, which as we know, does not make any more power and only weighs 60-80lbs less. I think the reason for this is that they either didn't test the m6 zl1 and just went off what GM claims or those stickier, wider tires on the 1le got it moving better. I've done the 0-60 sprint in 3.8 bogging off the line, so I can certainly see a clean launch with better tires netting a 3.5 0-60 which is equal to the auto.

I would say for an AVERAGE driver, tires and a tune will be more than enough to equal or beat an a10's 1/4 mile time.

What are you mainly planning to do with the car? If you're a drag racer, you can't beat the auto. Drag racing is more than simply making one good pass. Consistency is more important than a fast time and the auto gives you both. I've consistently done 3.3 and 3.4 0-60 at the track with good prep and 3.6 and 3.7 on the street without even heating the tires up first, and the launch is the most important and most difficult part of drag racing.

If you're mainly going to be roll racing or running a road course, then the manual will run more even with the auto stock. The manual will still likely lose time between shifts, but it will run much closer to the auto than racing from a dig.
