Can't we all just get along!?
Actually the black hood on the 1LE has nothing to do with that. It came from trans am racing in the 60s and was an attempt to minimize glare/sun reflection off the hood of the car into the drivers eyes.

Hmmm. I didn't know that. I actually googled it to disprove your crazy theory, and it appears you are correct. Learn something new every day. But my point remains

On my 2019 RS V6 Camaro I have look at my grill at least 15 times and cannot find or see the pinch points to remove that part of the grill. Even looking at the owners manual and I can't seem to figure it out. The car came with a OEM tow hook so I know there's a place for it but I'll be dam if I can remove that part of the grill.

This is all I see when I think about it:
That's exactly the way it's meant to be used for those daily driving their cars and not going to the track.

When I was looking for a decent hook I realized they actually sold cheap ones not meant for towing anything, but were pretty and color matched. I also went for black so it just blends in with the grill and I don't care if it gets scratched up due to use.

It's for adding drag so you can go slower and burn more gas.

I've never looked at one but I would GUESS you have to remove a portion of the grill under the colored section of the bumper. It's probably going to be a 5 or 6" x 1-2" section. It won't be a circle most likely, it wasn't on the SS as far as I can recall.

Edit: Nevermind, the front of the 4cyl and 6cyl cars don't have a hole for it. The owners manual points out subframe locations to have the tow truck operator use instead.

This! Most cars come with a removable cover.

Abubaca, some Mopars came with black hoods from the factory also! Drag racers used to have them too!

Im with this guy. I have the big hole on my 19 ZL1 /LE, it annoys me so, once the weather gets better Ill be putting a black tow hook in there.

Doesn’t bother me on my ZL1 because I don’t notice the hole all the time! I guess no OCD for me! And if you leave it on the car and park at a shopping center someone could steal the tow hook while you are inside the store. Oh well.

I guess it’s better than the ugly yellow crap people are putting on the splitters of their challengers and chargers!

And adding downforce to the rear so you can attack corners at a higher speed. Same logic as this article from Randy Probst on the 5th gen Z/28

Except in practice without front aero it makes an SS 1LE slower at the track. It upsets the balance of the car in high speed corners. In T14 at Sebring you have to go about 5mph slower with the wicker bill installed to maintain front grip.

I have been asked so many times that I now respond saying,
