Great time, but before all the mustang guys declare how amazing that is it's not even close to the 1:51 the zr1 ran. It also took a lot of development time, 120 more hp and a dct to beat the ACR.
1:51... I actually don't think I'd want to ever go that fast, lol!

Interesting, so the CFTP is probably about a second faster than a ZLE with randy driving.

How do you figure? Is there a time somewhere for the ZL1 1lE?

These cars need to be run same day.

I'm going off all the 1:58s and 1:59s on YouTube and giving randy 1 second... but now that I say that out loud, I may be being way too conservative... the ZLE may be tied or faster?!

Us mustang guys will take our small victorys where we find them. A few months ago we didn't stand a chance against a standard ZL1. Now the ZR1 Corvettes is the car to beat.

I say as long as you're not born with a Chevy, Dodge, or Ford birthmark on your ass, you should be rooting for any of them to raise the performance per dollar for all of us. I hope the CFTP runs a damn 1:50 some how with a yet to be released "track alignment", ha!

It's not the car to beat, still a long way off of that... but you guys have your victory over the 495 hp c8, and will probably get it over the 650 hp zl1 but that remains to be seen.

The gt500 is amazing in its own right, regardless of the zr1

Yea the 1:58s and 1:59s I referenced earlier are random youtube dude's. I'd venture to guess the zle can't beat the acr, maybe match it with the a10 on the faster VIR full, even though the a10 barely beat the m6 on the VIR Grand.

Beating a time posted by an ACR is impressive if you ask me lol

So what's going on here? Let's assume it's a driver's race on average across all tracks and all drivers between the GT500 CFTP and ZLE. If so, is it the DSSVs, ediff, stiff joints, and slightly lighter weight that allows the ZLE to carry more speed through and out of turns to make up for the 110hp advantage of the GT500? I think it has to be. What you give up, however is a car you can comfortably drive across the country I guess.

I think the gt500s power, dct, and over all suspension/tires/brakes/aero are amazing and well engineered but weight is weight and there's only so much that can be modified on an existing chassis.

And maybe tire technology hasn't caught up to the latest muscle cars and the traction systems have a lot to compensate for.

Agreed, and who knows if the viper has any time left in it. I know it had a 2:44 and a 2:40 at VIR Grand, as well as a 1:31 and a 1:28 at Laguna Secs. Maybe it has better than a 1:57 at VIR Full still.
