The C8 looks very good on paper indeed. We'll see how it does, very curious to see some real world test results. To me it definitely looks to be a potential upgrade contender a few years down the road---based on GM's history, I'd never buy a first model year car from them, let the kinks be worked out first

As long as it is under warranty I would take my chances....

I was initially worried about my 2016 after everyone talks about the first model year. There definitely can be issues that only affect the first model year, but I've had good luck with mine. The only issues I have, have been issues that weren't really resolved fully in the later model years either. A8 shudder issue (had it happened once and did the triple flush), NPP valve chirp (never addressed) and rear end groan in cold temps.

I'd have no issues about getting a first model year, it's a coin toss either way IMO.

The 19+ Camaros are god ugly. I can't wait until the C8 releases I don't understand why anyone would consider a Camaro instead maybe a 16-18 but definitely not a 19+....

the vette and camaro were not even in the same galaxy until 2016. used vettes are and probably always will be the best bang for your buck with regard to base performance and potential.

i don’t see the c8 pulling much out of the camaro purchase base. very few performance oriented people who could afford an $80k vette last year bought a camaro instead. i do, however, see the c8 absolutely destroying the “supercar” market once the z cars debut. it almost seems as if they had this marketing strategy planned since 2014 or so. we all thought the alpha camaros were the 1-upper, ha...not even close.

I am curious, haven't heard yet if the LT2 will have the stupid AFM, I hope the hell it doesn't! So sick of AFM!

I agree I don't think it's going to affect the base model Camaro sales at all but, I think the high-end SS models and ZL1s it will take sales away. I come from owning Corvettes for 20 years and bought 2017 SS because the performance was not far off (if any) from the base C7 and wanted a change. However, I will consider a C8 next purchase when you factor in the base model is a dual-clutch auto for less than $60,000.00.

Good question. If I was to guess I would say yes to keep it from having any type of gas guzzler tax

It does but it’s an updated version.

Maybe not the SS, there's still upwards of a $20,000 price gap there, but I can definitely see some ZL1 sales imperiled.

If the Camaro didn't pull sales from a C7, it's not going to pull any sales from the C8. If anything, it's going in the opposite direction.

My SS listed for $50,000.00 so really only about $9,000.00 list price difference for loaded coupes. SS convertibles are even more, that’s why I included the SS as well.

I think it will because of the C7 base Stingray performance wasn't much better or really about the same as the GEN6 SS however the C8 base is about the same as the ZL1 plus the supercar look I think it will pull a few

It's not the mid-upper (i.e., V8) range of each model that's driving overall sales numbers; it's the 4 and 6-cylinder models, of which Ford and Dodge are selling more. Even if those otherwise inclined to buy a Corvette would instead go out and buy a ZL1 or loaded 2SS, that would hardly affect overall sales.

Ok I love my manual transmissions with a clutch pedal. And I have a Porsche with a 7spd PDK which is a very nice trans and no doubt makes the car faster. Still I would take the manual if it was available.

But would I dismiss the C8 for that? No. I wouldn’t.
In some ways since the C5 the vette has been a transaxle car. And the shifter mechanism is not quite as good as a direct to trans mounted design like the Camaro. It’s fantastic in the gen 6. I have one. And same trans in a pro touring 71 too. Awesome trans - love
It. But in a mid engine car the trans is not only at the back of the car it’s back behind the engine. That makes packaging a real manual very difficult. I’m not sure you can get a real manual in any mid engine super car. But yet the cayman has one. Not sure what’s involved but I think the packaging plays a factor as well.

I might consider one. But I would not get rid of my camaro - at least one of them. And if anything the Porsche is the car that would have to go and that’s a sedan.

Are Camaro buyers going to jump to Corvette?

Not really.

There's 2 reasons people that want a Corvette buy a Camaro instead.
1. To have back seats
2. The Corvette costs too much for them.

Neither of those will change with the C8.

The C8 will steal sales from it's competitors, and the amount it steals from the Camaro will be too small to even be noteworthy.... Much like the amount of Corvette buyers that are going to opt for a Camaro instead..... and those that do, would likely be going for the ZL1 rather than the regular SS or SS 1LE
I bought the camaro because I liked it better. Had plenty of money for a corvette. The backseat is useless anyway
