I used to think that, now I think the 17-18 looks a little out of date. 19+ looks good at night
Oil pump failure would be my main concern with 17-18s, almost seems like a matter of time - roll of the dice |

OP I agree with you. 19 tail lights are awful.
I'm glad I got the very first year, 2018 before they murdered the rear end with the new tail lights and that weird crease in the rear bumper. Good luck with the search.

There’s no guarantee that the pump will last but you should be ok with a 2018 that has a later build date (5/18 +). Most of the failures occurred in cars with a 2017 build date. I’ve only seen a hand full of 18s that have failed. Set aside some money just in case it does fail.

I like the '19+ taillights fine but I think I do prefer the '18 bumper. Certainly not a deal breaker though.. And if I don't have to worry about the oil pump, I think that is a worthwhile "sacrifice". The color for me is the most difficult decision. So many ZLEs for sale right now are white!!! They look awesome in white, but I really want a darker color. I think when a darker color is taken care of, you get a much better glossy deep look that you can't really get with white. Can't do black either though. had a black car, that was basically a full time job. |

I'd imagine the oil pump can be replaced preventively on a 2018. May be a bit of extra upfront cost, but it's probably worth getting done for your peace of mind.
Also agree with your take on the taillights, it's quite sad if the old ones can't be swapped on along with the old rear bumper. I have seen a myriad 2019+ Camaros and these exterior changes are an absolute dealbreaker even after all these years. GM lost a ZL1 sale with me, my money went to Magnuson and Jannetty Racing instead.

I liked my ‘18 lights just fine, but then the 19+ came out & I just craved that new contoured look vs the plain Jane flat back. It’s literally like a girl with double D’s vs Lauan. Your claim to tail light master race is flawed & incorrect, but you do you. |

lmfao you can try to make terrible comparisons all you want. but numbers don't lie, theres a reason 17-18s are bringing a premium. majority of ppl hate the Malibu lights

I bought the 19 over an earlier model specifically FOR the smoked taillights.
That and because I didn’t want a fragile oil pump LOL.
