"Ask Al" subforum

I don't know if this has been brought up before but it would be really cool to have an "Ask Al" subforum where people could post questions for Al Openheiser to answer if he and the Camaro team are willing to do so. Over on the Corvetteforum they have an "Ask Tadge" subforum and they actually get some really good technical answers to questions about the Corvette. Tadge will also get input from his team like Jim Mero on suspension and chassis questions. He gets input from the Chief powertrain engineer on engine and transmission related questions.

Obviously they will not answer questions about future product offerings and such but for products that are already offered they do provide some nice technical answers on many topics.

Just a suggestion that I think would really help further connect the Camaro team to one of their largest group of enthusiasts!

Yeah I've seen that on the Corvette side. Also I think Dodge has this to.

It would be cool if they gave the time to do it. I'm thinking might be too late for the 5th gen, in the way (I think) they would rather talk about new products to push them. Who knows I don't.

Excellent thought. I have so many questions! Have a sub thread where people can post questions and then moderators can select the best ones and pass them on.

On the Corvette Forum they basically have this exact system. Only the moderators will pick a couple for the next question to submit and then they have a poll open for a week or so for people to vote on which question they want submitted. Then the moderator submits the winning question to Tadge (Corvette Chief Engineer).

I think it would be really cool to hear from Al and the Engineering team on why the make some of the decisions they do!

"Ask Al" subforum

Is there any way we can set up an "Ask Al" subforum similar to the Corvette forum that has an "Ask Tadge" section? I think this would be a good improvement to the forum, if he'd be willing to participate in it (something like 1 question per week that we vote on).

I think thats a great idea, but its not really up to us.

If Al (and GM) wants to do anything along those lines, I'm sure we can accommodate any format they want.

This would be great, obviously.

Are there people at C5/6 that could look into making it happen?

Deja Vu. I asked this same question a few months back and I think I may have even titled the thread the same as this one!

We need to make this happen!

That's great news. I would really like my No Lift Shift question answered, with detail on exactly how the feature is supposed to be working.

This was recently answered on the Corvetteforum in the Ask Tadge section.

Thanks! I saw that, but was looking for more detail on specifically what to look for when it's working (to confirm it's working as intended). The feature doesn't appear to work the same between the SS and SS 1LE. When I use it, the engine speed will go to 6500 (and hold there) and I'm not sure if that's working properly or not. Opinions vary on how exactly it's supposed to work, so would like to clear that up and get info straight from the engineering team rather than risk damaging my car (in case engine speed is just banging off the rev limiter).
