First V8

God damn, what power.

I upgraded from a 2011 V6 LS Camaro, which was my first ever new car, to this beast of a ride.
I drove that V6 like I stole it everywhere I went. It was so much fun smashing the throttle and just having fun with it, responsibly, of course.

Now I got my 2018 SS and it's my first V8. In fact I had very little to no driving experience in a proper V8 sports car. Trucks don't count.

Now my 2011 would slide if I turned it too hard and the body roll didn't help.

But the thing that surprised me the most with this car is the coming out of corners like a bat out of hell.
I guess the combination of wider tires and a bigger engine made for a hell of a ride.
Every time I come out of corner I feel like I'm right at the beginning of the power band, and I can feel the torque all the way through the gear it's just awesome.

I was bored and thought I would share a bit.

Glad you enjoy it but becareful, especially if you're not used to the raw power the SS can give you...It's not like tossing around a V6 which can be fun and like a toy but forgiving when you over do it.. The SS is about precision.. in other words.. you better know what you're doing or it's going to take you someplace you don't wanna go.

Oh yea for sure. I haven't slammed the throttle on the SS yet. A bit spirited but no flooring the pedal...yet.
It's a whole different beast that I have to get used to.

TBH, I probably didn't even floor my V6 until a good 6 months into ownership. I wanted to know every little movement in the car and how it behaves before I do anything that can push the envelope.

Oh yeah, it took me about 6 months before I pushed the pedal all the way to the floor and it is intoxicating in this car. I do it on 55 mph roads when turning onto them or from a slow roll but the biggest problem is that it gets up to the speed limit so damn fast you can't stay in it for very long...safety first. Man, I gotta get to the track

Ditto on what you said.....I just love four way stops. When it’s my turn, I get ‘er thru 3 gears and before I’m even thru the intersection, I’m at 45 miles an hour and it didn’t even go over 3500 rpm...then I get off it.... love that freaking growl!

Oh hell no. I had that pedal to the floor on the test drive. The s&@t eating grin it gave me is the reason I bought it. 😀
