Not sure if serious or humor....

It's manual only and not a DCT or "auto-manual" so, that wouldn't be an option.. The auto cars do have paddle shifters and upshift is quick quick.

Someone may have already posted this but did you notice the 1LE was about 10 mph slower at the end of the long straight than the 17' ZL1? Talk about down force!!!!!

It could be possible that the manual ZL1 is faster around a track than the auto, it has already been proven. I would be curious to see just how quick the regular manual ZL1 would be around the 'ring. Though it may not see more mph in the straights, it may get up to speed quicker than the 1LE. Maybe the wing on the 1LE isn't slowing it down as much as we think, wasn't it proven that the manual ZL1 tops out around 173 because of the gearing?

I just finished watching 1LE "ring" vid for the fifth time. Compared to A10 vid.

I'm blown away every time, adrenaline pumping. Obviously, Wise is a stud. The way that the 1LE stays planted to the pavement is nothing short of magnificent. Steering appears almost effortless. He can bang gears and H/T with the best. Draws amazing lines.

In my humble opinion, it's the hard mounted DSSV with adjustable suspension, in combination with the Goodyear rubber and lower sprung mass that makes all of the difference between the A10 and the 1LE. Yes aero plays a role (I like the wing). I believe that I read that 6th on the 1LE is shorter than the same gear on M6 ZL1. It's also a given that the A10 has much wider top gears and a 2.85 diff., hence the higher top speed on the straights. Think about it, to make 10+mph more on those straights and still lose a second per mile overall, is a glaring testament to the suspension setup on the 1LE.

Two words for both cars, F/ing Awesome!

Both variants, without a doubt are proof of Chevrolet's commitment to WORLD CLASS performance...That a hard working, everyday American man can afford and enjoy.
God bless the USA and Chevrolet!
I can't wait for my build.

Imagine what the ZR1 will be capable of, high 6???

First, our eyes are designed to pickup movement. The driver's movements in the car vs the automatic are going to make everything a little more dramatic. Now, before you start kicking my ass, the driver is VERY F-ING GOOD. A good driver can make up for a lot of handling issues with a car - I'm not saying that the car has issues either, it's a combination of the driver and the car. This guy CLEARLY knows what he's doing, I WISH I had the opportunity to drive a car they way he is driving that one.

Second, the extra downforce on the car really improves how the car is able to enter and exit the corners. More downforce means you can carry more speed through a corner without losing control. More speed into a turn equals higher speed out, so long as you can control it.

Third, the downforce on the car affects overall top speed because that downforce changes the vector for forward thrust. It will not be as "fast" on the top end because that extra downforce equals drag.

Fourth, that suspension is lighter and stiffer than a non-ZL1. That changes the center of gravity (albeit very slightly) but definitely in the right direction for a track car. Being stiffer also means it's able to compensate for corners better than a "softer" ride.

This is a tremendous track car BUT, in the end it's a ZL1 designed for the track. Pick your poison ladies and gentlemen.

This is a classic case of the Good/Fast/Cheap triangle. You can have two, but getting all three isn't going to happen. FTR, this is the closest we've ever seen to getting all three though in a production car.

Question

Great ZL1 1LE & ZL1 lap times. I wonder why GM never posted their lap times of all the C7 models that they tested at Nurburgring

I had to watch it again

You are correct, Rev Match was OFF.

I wonder how it would perform with the Rev Match ON?

I also wonder why it didn't push it past 173mph@5500rpm on the last straight?

Wings=downforce=lower top speed

A10 top gears are much wider + smaller ratio diff. (2.75) + added downforce.

What I was referring to was the engine's max rpm.

His shift points were at 6500rpm yet he held it at 5500rpm@173mph.

It had about another 1000 rpm in reserve and he didn't push it?

From what I heard it seems he leveled it off at 5500?

But I could be wrong.

I'd also like to see the drag coefficient at 173mph and if the torque curve was overcome, thus the reason for holding at 5500rpm.

Drag coefficient is a constant so it's the same at 1 mph as 173 mph. Probably in the .3 to .4 range.
