NAV System

I know some of you probably know this already and yes I did read the manual but the Infotainment System manual is voluminous. Anyway, if you have put addresses in your cell phone's contacts field they will display in the NAV system and all you have to do is touch the address and the NAV system finds the address for you. Pretty cool. My MKX MySync NAV system does not do that. This car continues to surprise me with the advanced technology. The performance, handling, ride an,d accruements (ie ventilated seats blind spot, cross traffic back up camera quality etc) are way beyond what I had hoped it would be. The backup camera in my MKX looks like VGA compared to the Camaro. The car I traded in was a 2004 Corvette and this 2SS Camaro is way nicer.

The Camaro has 13 years of newer technology, so yes it is ahead of your C5 in that regard.

Our '17 Camaro is way nicer than the '11 Camaro we traded in too.

Technology marches forward at an ever faster pace each year.

Wait until you discover android auto with waze in beta testing soon to be released. custom nav voices, persistent options to avoid GD toll roads. along with various other features .... google music etc. Makes all the mylink crap moot.

I have a 2016 2SS and recently realized I don't have Android Auto. Through research on this great site, I believe my MyLink needs to have the software upgraded, A $50.00 fee and a trip to my local dealership.

It'd be nice if Waze was car play compatible. Trying to use it and NAV is tiresome

Blame Apple for that.
They will only allow their map to be used in Car Play.

There is no fee for it. If your dealer quoted a fee then find a new dealer.

I remember something on here (or maybe it was somewhere else) that Waze was in beta and soon to be released from last year. Is there an update to this?

Check out this thread. Short answer is it is supposed to be available Q1 which is fast approaching the end.

Thanks for info. When I called my local dealer, I assumed all dealers went by the same rules based on a vehicle with warranty. I'll be calling a dealer in another town Monday.

Np. You are not the first to get that from a dealer. Many dealers are completely clueless when it comes to subjects like this.

Which is why CarPlay sucks, and we'll be getting a Camaro with the native NAV system in it. I don't much care if NAV is an extra cost, the Apple Maps app sucks. Not to mention I don't use SIRI (which I imagine has to be ebnabled for CarPlay to work...it does in my company owned Ford Escape). Free crappy app, or built-in system that costs a few bucks? I'll take the latter.

Just switch to Android and problem solved
