I think the 427 has the best bore and stroke combination compared to the 416

Have any of these big crazy power builds ran a number yet? I know Parish got his lined out and he will easily be crazy fast very soon.

Just saw Lingenfelters 1000 hp (crank) Zl1 go 9.60s or 9.70s, at the LS Fest. They have the new 2650 Edelbrock but it still didn't go as fast as Shizzy's little 2300 Maggie.

Yea...that e force 2650 is going to have a lot of limitations due to design. Dont like their marketing either: no smoke and mirrors. Yet they dont show any dyno runs, dyno sheet, dont list the 103tb as part of how they got to the power level etc. Heck what gear on the dyno did they run it to?

Be curious to know what it trapped and if it was a 10 speed.

Are there differences between the CMS & Gwatney piston/rod combos to justify the ~800 higher price for the CMS parts?

CMS is CP-Carrillo (known to be costly - especially the rods)
GPI is Compstar-Diamond

GPI is Compstar-Diamond
CMS - $2,499.00 This kit supports 1000+HP
This kit includes:
- I-Beam Rods with H7 Carillo 7/16 Rod Bolts
- Drops Compression (1) full point 10.5:1
- CP Pistons with 2618 Forging Material
- Thick Wall, Heavy Duty Wrist Pins
- Tool Steel Top Ring, Napier Second Ring
- No Balancing Required! Drop In Piston and Rod Upgrade!!
- ACL H-Series Rod Bearings
- Price Includes Shipping To Your Door!

GPI - $1,700.00 This kit is designed to support 1000+HP
This kit includes:
- 6.125 Compstar Connecting Rods
- Maintains OE Compression of 11.5:1
- Diamond Pistons with 2618 Forging Material
- Heavy Duty Pin, Locks, and Ring Package
- Thick Wall, Heavy Duty Wrist Pins
- No Balancing Required! Drop In Piston and Rod Upgrade!!
- Calico - H-Series Standard Size Rod Bearings

For someone like me looking for <1k wheel, I have a tendency to lean toward the GPI kit. Keeps compression and is an upgrade from the factory rod/piston. I would think the CMS cost would align more with 1k+ builds where the better parts would make more sense.

Has anyone done the GPI kit here? Also what gaps are you guys using?

Yeah well it's been quite a bit faster then that since then.

Yup I used the GPI stuff. I followed the gapping instructions that came with the pistons.. worked out great except i removed too much material on one ring and had to call diamond to get a replacement.

We were at Atlanta in April parked right across from Lingenfelter. I talked to Chris and the tuner a lot during those 4 days we were there. They started off in the mid 9.50s@145 or so. Car runs really good for sure, I think the best pass was 9.39@147. I was running 10.00s, tune was pretty far off, I was hoping I'd run a little closer to there times they ran last year, car was bitch rich and finally got it lined out a few weeks back. They'll be getting one of our Magnuson 2650s in the near future to run some comparisons against the E2650 so we'll see where it all ends up. The Speed Engineering vet made over 1000 at the wheels and broke the tranny on a 9.22 pass and had to be towed back to his trailer so I think his pass would have been really low 9 or possibly high 8 if the tranny hadn't failed just past the 660.

Did you weigh the stock parts and compared to the weight of the GPI parts?
Would be interesting to know if the weights are actually the same, which would then really mean that no balancing is necessary.

How many miles on the motor since the build?
What kind of max WHP/TQ are you running and on which tune?
Octane?
Did you also upgrade the fuel system to LT4 parts?

No I trusted their engineering and research.

I've put about 500 miles on the motor since i built it. I'm guessing it's around 1000 wheel on 20psi with e85.

the motor has lt4 fueling and the car also has a mega-squirt controlling 8 supplementary injectors.

The engine shows no signs of any issues and sounds/acts perfectly fine. no rattles or vibrations so i'm guessing the balance of the assembly is close.
