weird new car question

OK so I have had my Camaro for 2 months now and love. Today I was looking at the window sticker and noticed something. I have the RS Package which includes 20 MS wheels and the price for the package is $1200.00. Then i have and upgrade of aluminum wheels which cost $470.00. So I think I should have to sets of wheels for my car. Let me know if this sounds weird.

No, just 1 set...The $470 option for the aluminum wheels is an upgrade price over the wheels you get in the RS package.

What he said. You just paid to upgrade to the nicer set.

You'd have two sets if you bought any of the 21" wheel options. But Fatal is correct that you get the polished only as an upgrade in lieu of getting midnight silver. Kind of a high price to pay if you ask me. But that's just my opinion.

Specifically, the $470.00 is for the POLISHED aluminum wheels upgrade.

ya its screwed up since you have a SS, and would have gotten the polished 20's STOCK, then you op'ed for the RS package, which gave you the Midnight silver 20's, so you ended up paying an estra $470 to get back your STCOK wheels....but that is the car game.....and is this case, it SUX!!

If you ordered an upgrade on your radio, do you think they give the OEM radio in a paper bag?

NO, GM owes some money here. I hate to stir up an old thread, but the original poster simply didn't explain properly (no offence), so here goes the logic (hopefully) one last time:

Fact: SS1 or SS2 packages include the base painted 20" wheels.

Scenario 1, BOB upgrades from base to polished and is charged $470 (you are trading base pained 20s for polished 20s). Easy upgrade, right?

Now, scenario 2, TOM gets the RS package which includes some cost for the midnight finish (say, $470?). This is a more complicaded upgrade because the HID and wheel upgrade are both buried in the $1200, but an upgrade nonetheless. If you argue the midnight finish cost nothing, then HIDs cost close to $1200. Don't beleive it...the midnight finish must cost something, otherwise everyone would pick 'em over the base wheels, right?

Now, scenario 3, poor FRED orders the RS package (like scenario 2) but he really wants the polished wheels. Well, the guy in scenario 1, BOB got to pay $470 to go from base painted 20s straight to polished. In poor FRED's case he also pays $470 to upgrade, BUT WAIT!!! He already paid some kind of wheel upgrade price as part of the RS package (to go from base to midnight).

The problem: the base wheels upgrade straight to polished cost $470.
The midnight to polished ALSO cost $470. Get it now? What happened to Fred's wheel upgrade already paid in the RS package (for the midhights). GM owes Fred that component. Hell, it would be more fair if the BOB in scenario 1 paid $1000 to upgrade from base to polished. Then it would make sense. Instead, Fred paid close to $1000 to upgrade base to polished, while Bob only paid $470 to upgrade base to polished.

Now, I think the midnight finish is the best of the bunch so I have no issues, but if you upgraded RS to polished, GM owes you something (whatever the midnight upgrade cost buried in the RS upgrade was ~ $470 ?). This is a pricing problem GM has to solve.

The polished alum do look nicer. I have the Midnight Silver's and really the shade that they are. On close inspection I can easily tell that they are painted,. Of course If ur not a stickler for things like this its not an issue. Im an stickler and Im happy with my Midnight Silver's

now i've got a headache.whatever you are trying to say,it is still a $470.00 upgrade.
