After the first time my car rolled back ( I had to jump in and hit the brakes) I just don't rely on the parking break alone anymore. No habit to change it's just a conscious decision each time I get out of the car. So pay attention to what your doing and soon it will be second nature.

On another note, if you are pushing the brake peddal while you are pulling up on the e-brake you should be able to get the e-brake to clamp down harder.

thank you but what strikes me as weird. Is my driveway is on s steep hill. When I parked my car, I went and got something out of my truck (at this time my car still has not rolled). I went in and about 30 mins late my neighbor came and told me my car was in the street. Just weird thats all and it is parked and in gear NOW!!!

i don't put the car in gear when it's parked on a flat surface or on my drive way. only when i park on hills. does that make ma a troll?

YOU PROBABLY DROVE THE CAR WITH THE P.B PULLED UP , AND DO YOU KNOW THAT YOU SHOULD PUCH THE FOOT BREAK BEFORE PULLING THE PARKING ONE ?????

I do have to agree, the camaro's parking break is horrible. But, I always leave mine in gear and sometimes add the parking break when on an incline. Never had any rolling problems.

Take it back to the dealer and express your concerns. They should adjust it for you under warrantee. Personally haven't had a problem with e-brakes or car rolling away. I leave it in gear and pull the brake. Works fine on mine.

I guess I will just have to get use to leaving it in gear. I think that habbit started when my last manual had a remote starter on it. When i had it done i just had to leave my car out of gear.

The foot brake has nothing to do with the parking brake, makes no difference if you hit the foot brake first. The parking brake uses a drum in hat/shoes, not the rotor surface/caliper/pads.

If the handle comes up too high, it can be adjusted with a star wheel inside the parking brake drum. It is supposed to self adjust by pulling up the handle several times. But if if doesn't, it can be manually adjusted by pulling the wheel and rotor. When adjusted right, the parking brake holds fine.... along with being left in gear.

thanks this is what i have been wanting to hear. I dont like to hear that there is no fix to a problem cause there always is you just have to find one. I think I try pulling the handle a few time tomorrow when I go to work. If that does not work I will take it in to the dealer and have them fix it. Thanks.

i avoid parking this car at any incline. with the ebrake pulled up and in gear you can hear the car moan as it wants to roll away. i know my 93 zz8 in neutral with parking brake pulled up 2 clicks will hold the car on the steepest driveway.
