parking brake problems

OK this is the second time this has happened to me. I park my car leave and the car rolls away. I pull my parking brake all the way up to like the second to last click. The first time my car rolled and hit another car. After that time I took it to the dealer and they said it was fine. The second time was today. The car rolled out of my drive way and my neighbor told me my car was in the street and almost rolled down the ditch. I just want to know if anyone has the same problem.

Before you ask I DON NOT put my car in first. I know I will catch S--T for this. My car is now back in my drive way parking brake all the way up and in first gear. Any help would be helpful thank you.

Your not suppose to rely on just the brake ... If you don't leave it in gear, shame on you ...

Your brake is working normal ...

If I had to guess I'd say that you are parking the car when the brakes are warm...as they cool the friction between the pads and rotors is nominally less and the car rolls.

Out of curiosity, after the first time you parked it with just the brake (contrary to what the owner's manual says) and it rolled into a parked car, why would you continue to park it that way?

It's been pretty well documented that the parking brake is terrible at best.

I agree that the parking brake is marginal, at best. I have owned countless manual transmission cars and have never put the trans in gear. This is the first car I've owned that if I am on any incline at all, I now put it in gear. The parking brake is WEAK!

Exclamation

Lastly you are supposed to turn your front tires so your car will roll into no danger. I smell a troll here.

me too!..this can't be a legitimate thread?..who in their ''right"
mind would park a car and leave the tranny "out of gear",and JUST engage the parking brake, either on a flat surface,OR on an incline?..perhaps somethin' goin' on upstairs?

I doubt the OP is a troll. Maybe he hasn't learned his lesson, but that doesn't change the fact that the parking brake on the Camaro sucks.

Also, the OP has 65 posts and has been registered on the site much longer than you.

Habbits are hard to break. I have never had to put any of my manual trannies in gear so I just dont do it. So it is hard to break a habbit i have be doing for years

I'm surprised how crappy the E-brake is in manual models. The e-brake on my L99
is amazingly strong to say the least as I live on a very steep incline. When I park
the routine is when I find my spot I put it in neutral, pull the e-brake,let off the
pedal brake and make sure it's not gonna roll and then put it in park.
