Decided to try Non Ethanol 87 Octane in my 3.6 V6 for 1 fillup

They have this stuff at my local station so I decided to try it..

At first I didn't notice a real difference. All highway for a 200 mile round trip drive I scored 34 MPG (normally I do right at 32) at 80 MPH. I did notice, it didnt take as much effort to keep it at 80 as well.

But today, I noticed there was a night and day difference.. The car is ALOT snappier and aggressive than it was before I used this. Its kind of that same sharpness you feel after you do a tuneup. If this stuff didn't cost $0.75 more per gallon I would switch to it.

Technically you should pick up about 3% in mileage but some people report more.

I can think of no reason it would run harder. It should slow down. Us v8 guys see about a 10% increase in rwhp going to e85.

Shouldn't be any power increase. Perhaps a placebo effect coupled with cooler outside temps?

E85 has higher octane so that's where the power increase comes from. Going from 87 octane with or without ethanol shouldn't make a difference.

Gas has more energy than ethanol, so there should be a slight increase in MPG since the engine should be using a smaller fuel volume to achieve the same output.

Ethanol is oxygenated. That is where the extra power comes from.
