Just saw this posted on autoguide.com

I'm not saying that's what's going on here, but just because a car couldn't fit the M7 a few years ago, doesn't mean they haven't solved the issue by now.

Typically don't make platform changes during a refresh. they would have to change the transmission tunnel to accommodate the M7 and I don't see that happening in a refresh.

It can easily happen during a refresh.

The 2015 Challenger was a refresh, and they changed the LX platform (okay, LC platform) to take the A8 transmission versus the A5 transmission.

I'd say it would depend on the amount of work needed to get it to fit, and also - it could be that they changed the housing, and not the car.

It's all speculation, of course.

Where'd you hear that? I found the ZF 8 is the same size as the ZF 6 and only 6 pounds heavier than the A5, but nothing about them changing LC/LX to accommodate it.

We will see the Cadillac CT5 on the Alpha 2 platform pretty soon. Considering the Camaro shares the platform and assembly line, maybe the refreshed Camaro is also on Alpha 2, and maybe the platform has been updated to accept the M7.

I don't know how much I trust that...they're assuming there will be no ZL1 in 2019 based off of that chart, and that's not true. Hmmm..

Also it's curious because I remember they said something about the M7 transmission not fitting....huh.

Neat find!

Fun facts, the M7 that is made by Tremec is smaller then the M6 it makes, in over all length the M6 is 813mm and the M7 is 782mm, next is the weight the M6 is 3 LB more, now to the DCT for the same makers, there also shorter then the M6 now in our cars but they do add weight, 1 is 70LB more then the M6 is now.

I think they will fit, now lets see what comes out.

The CARB certifications are based on the engine. The 2019 LT4 certification just hasn't been posted yet.

This is the 2018 certification:

What about the rest of the dimensions of the M7 to M6?

I am just going by what Aaron Link the lead engineer of the Camaro said. He is the one who said the M7 does not physically fit in the trans tunnel

GM did state the Manual 7 speed currently in the C7 will not fit in the 6th Gen Camaro, so I don't see them modifying the chassis mid production run to make it fit. I will however engage in pure speculation and guess it could be the Tremec TR-9007 7 speed DCT that is rumored to be in the upcoming Vette ME car and 2019 GT500. Maybe mated to the LT5 or perhaps another engine for the Z/28?

That is a rear mount and uses a torque tube, the Camaro does not, i dont have all the of the dimensions, like i said all the new Manuel trans coming out of Tremec seem to be shorter.

Why? if not to fit the overall smaller cars that are now or soon to be in the lineup.

It's offered in different configurations for the Vette, AWD, RWD, etc.
