Starting with E85 in cold weather
Been doing some reading and seems starting with e85 in cold weather is a big more difficult. Anyone want to chime in on their experience with this? For reference, I’m looking at doing a flexfuel kit on my ‘18 ZL1 and won’t go above 55% ethanol.

seems to take 1/2 to 1 second of cranking longer, it does get into the 20s in Texas.

Used to have a car on E85... Have the tuner add extra fuel on start. Or try priming the fuel pump before starting (hold start button for 5+ seconds until everything turns on w/o engine), then start car; I think it works that way on a Camaro, I'm used to just turning the key a few times to prime it.

Below around 65° or so and the cranking will be longer if the E is above E70. If you stay under E70 it might be slightly delayed in firing off. As said though, if the tuner adds some fuel to the start up tables they can get around the issue. If you are running a flex fuel kit on your ZL1 and the vehicle is tuned correctly there is no reason to limit yourself to E55, you will be leaving some power on the table. It is only the 1st start that is hard, after that the rest of the starts are just fine. I had my 17 SS 1LE on E85 until I put the Procharger on it. I just swapped my 16 Sierra 6.2 over to E85 and will be keeping it on E85 for the time being.
