I read this earlier...ZL1 will definitely join in this high hp fun, along with the Z06 of course. Maybe this will be a way to get more performance out of the Z06 without having to add a ZR1 model for 7th gen...Good times people, horsepower wars are in full throttle.

Yeah I thought about that too, the blower on the current Z06 is smaller than the last ZR1, wondering if thag maybe be a possibility, hence producting more hp fro, the LT4.

They have been talking and hinting and letting some news slip about that ttv8. Hope more and more folks talk about it so they have to implement it. The driveline and suspension to match that force is gonna be expensive

More power Scotty....

An interesting comment , given in that threads, comment section:
Well here are the facts.
#1 the old car never was given all the power the engine had. That engine passed warranty and emissions testing at GM up to 725 HP. The new engine has a much higher threshold and can easily surpass this. It would be foolish to not expect Cadillac and the Corvette not to pass up the Hellcat at least in limited numbers at some point. That was not hearsay it is what I was told a few years back by a GM driveline engineer.
#2 The car that gets the extra power will be tuned to use all it is given. For example the Corvette people have tested up to 1,000 HP reportedly and as of now are having trouble putting it to the ground. GM will give a car only the power it can handle. The Hellcat has more power than it can use and the management system holds it back. The car is fast but should be faster and is computer restricted for traction etc.
If the Camaro doesn't get the extra power, will the Caddy put a smack-down on the hot looking Camaro?

The factory blower is definitely holding the LT4 back. Just swapping out the PD for a ProCharger was good for +110 RWHP at the same boost on the Z06. Badazz car to see in person. It's now putting down nearly 1000 to the rear wheels in race trim.

I think a DCT would do much more to raise the brand. If you're paying that kind of premium for a Cadillac you should get something more special than a blower or turbo, everyone has a high hp car it's a given now. Anyone can get a blower for a few thousand, and the A8 hasn't really been that impressive.

"Them times, they are a'changin'...."

I don't necessarily disagree with any of this short term speculation, however, everyone needs to realize that the days of horsepower wars are numbered. These "enthusiast" segments get squeezed every year and the coming environmental regulations will make it impossible for any automaker to offer V8s and 600hp cars. We will all look back on this era as the "good ol' days".

Get 'em while you can.

I feel like ive been hearing that for years, and yet the cars keep getting faster and more powerful. Seems like every time a new big Lambo comes out I hear "this is probably the last V12 we'll see" and yet somehow its not.

technology is evolving as well as regulations. we'll see what the future holds, but counting out high output cars? I wouldn't do that quite yet.

I actually couldn't agree with you more, hence hold onto these cars, because soon the good old EPA and other government agency is going to "try" to tell us what we can and can't drive!

My understanding is that a big reason American performance cars are such a great bargain is partly due to the pushrod, going to DOHC will drive the price up about 40 to 50K, just look at the german cars.

Look at the GT350. I can be done cheaper than BMW does it.

Unless it's a LT4 with a larger blower..
the 2.9ltr whipple does good work on the coyotes, perhaps they bring out a kit for the LT1 in Camaro 16.
