If The Dump the Camaro How Will Chevy Compete in T/A?
Camaros needed for Trans Am, don't Chevy give a damn?T/A Racing is where its at...how can they not see that.
American muscle battling it out in real racing for the common man. Not fake NASCAR where we now have search harder and harder for a fan. Last edited by Casper the friendly G; 02-04-2023 at 07:41 PM. Reason: uh |

Seriously do you think that’s a priority for GM? Everything I hear on the news and here, is that their only concern is virtue signaling how green they are. The knee is fully bent to the cult.

TA2 is THE class, but they are running the Factory backed Garage 56 Camaro at Le Mans which has much larger brand awareness. I'm shocked they are even doing that with a car they are sunseting. |

It is probably sleight of hand on the unsuspecting public whom they want to purchase "Camaro" sub brand EVs. Basically promote the exciting ICE variant but only offer a me-too EV.

The same goes for NASCAR too! Guess they can run a Malibu.

Heck in Nascar Toyota uses a Camry which is only produced as a sedan, so Chevy could do the same with the Malibu. Today's Nascar doesn't use actual production based cars anymore.

The Dodge Chargers and Challengers are also being discontinued, and in 2023 already, so it's not just GM. And pending an official announcement I am still holding out that there may be a future for the Camaro

Yes. Mecum just sold a wing car driven by Bobby Allison. Motortrend TV did a pretty good video of it when they featured it before it crossed the block. Interior looked like a factory car stripped out and with a roll cage built into it.
The whole car looked like a factory "shell" but with race mods. Back in the day, for a car to be legal in NASCAR, the "version" of it had to be made and sold to the public, and in some minimum number (I think it was 500). That's how the wing cars came about, Chrysler had to sell a street version for it to be legal for NASCAR. They actually sold like crap back in '69-'70 because everyone thought they were ugly.

Yes. Back when Nascar first started the drivers drove production street cars that they modified for racing. Win on Sunday, sell on Monday was the old adage. That's why the Superbird was created.

Absolutely...NASCAR used to be you could drive your car to the track race and drive it home. Last edited by Casper the friendly G; 02-05-2023 at 07:01 PM. Reason: ds |

If they really cared about road racing they wouldn't have killed the GT4 (or at least priced it reasonably) and stayed in IMSA
