Brake question

Are the calipers off a SS1LE the same as a ZL1 1LE? The bolts on the rear have different head sizes and the bolt length is different

I know the brake pads and rotors are different. I think the calipers are too but not 100 percent on that.

Yes, and no.
I'll break it down:

So for 2022 and up there is a new brake package, the BCD Copper Free brake package. It is available on the SS, SS 1LE, ZL1 and ZL1 1LE. All the components of the BCD package are the same except for any color differences on the calipers.

That being said, moving onto the normal/typical copper brake (Ferodo HP1000 pads) packages that have been on the 2016 and up SS, SS 1LE, ZL1, ZL1 1LE variants, there are differences, to a point.

The SS has it's own system.

The SS 1LE has it's own system.

The ZL1 and ZL1 1LE are the same except for any color differences on the calipers.

To answer your question, no, the typical copper (HP1000 pad) package on the SS 1LE is not the same as what is on the ZL1/ZL1 1LE. The SS 1LE calipers and rotors are smaller. The pads are a different shape but the same pad material (HP1000).

Yes, the rear caliper bolts are different between the SS 1LE (#11570091) and ZL1/ZL1 1LE (#11610905).

I believed I read the ZLE had vented pistons and the ZL1 didn't I'm I mistaken?

They do not. The C7 Grand Sport and ZO6 had the vented pistons.

The ZL1 and ZL1 1LE have no brake component differences except the different caliper colors. Everything else is the same even the pads.

Got it, so I guess a couple guys did a swap with vette pistons as an upgrade.

You can also buy the piston kits from GM I believe and convert the ZL1 calipers.

Yep, the Brembo piston sizes are all the same between the different 6 piston calipers.
