Allocation and Status q

Hi there.

When I purchased/ordered my car, I was told that my dealer had allocation for 5 SS's for the remainder of the '16 model year. My car is # 3 of their remaining 5.

I was given an 8 digit number "AQ 183XXX".
I thought that was the WorkBench #, but it isn't.....

Was the dealership supposed to have given me a #?

Just curious as to what the "AQ" thing is....and if that's what others have rec'd as well from their dealer.

I only got a 6 digit code from the dealership. No "AQ" was provided. (When I contact GM chat for updates, I only give them the 6 digits I was given. I think all you need to get updates is that "183XXX", and the location of the dealership).

Dealer code is 6 digits

Vehicle code is usually letters such as TDDKGH
You should have a code or your build. Workbench should be available.

Dealer would not know how many allocations they have for the year. GM hands out new allocations starting every Thursday.

If they had alloction, your order would must likely be accepted by GM in a couple days. So you would have a status code of 2000.

Not sure how long ago you ordered. But there has to be a workbench....or there is no order.

Thanks.
The only other code is "1AK37", which I believe is the car itself.....

I just called 1-800-GM-DRIVE. the 183XXX (AQ) is not the #.
He seemed helpful, and said that he'd find out for me......We'll see.....

Negotiated on Saturday. Signed on Monday (3/14/16). Made a quick change (added NPP) on Tuesday (3/15/16).

With my C7 I was given an order number from the dealership, as soon as my order was placed, it was similar to what you posted. This number is used to track your order at the factory. I used to call GM Cust. Serv. and give them that number and they could tell me the status of my order.
Of course the dealership has other means of checking too.

Sounds like they have not actually entered the order yet, problably will do it tomorrow.
I hope they are not like some other dealers hoping to score an allocation on Thursday to place an order.

I will call them tomorrow.
If they don't give me a #, things will cease being as friendly as I'd hoped...

I have learned one thing though; overall (Canadian) allocation is not as high as I assumed. I was told 1500 '16 Vettes for the country. I wonder how many Camaro's (especially V8 SS's)?

Low allocation because they just don't make enough with the exchange. If they increase allocation for 2017 in Canada I suspect there will be a corresponding significant increase in price. I am thinking getting the Camaro in 2016 will turn out to be a bargain because the price is sure to go up.

I thought of that as well. Even the early discounts were somewhat generous.

We know the 1LE and the ZL1 will be pricey for sure.

I ordered my 2ss about middle of February, dealer entered the order right in front of me and gave me a copy of the work bench with my order number on it. My order number was a 6 digit number, I don't have it in front of me but if I remember it was all letters. That is what I use to check status. My dealer did not have allocation until March 10th. As of this past Tuesday my order went to 2000 status. Dealers can be kind slippery about allocation, they don't want you going elsewhere so make it seem like they will have "allocation right away" I waited more than three weeks and feel like I was strung along somewhat.

Hope that helps and good luck.

Don't call. Drop in and ask for the Sales Manager or the GM and ask for your workbench. It takes 30 seconds.

This 100%. That's what I'm going throu as well. I finally got a full copy of their allocation schedule from the manager to stop the lies and running around
