A penny for your thoughts

So I added a the Roto fab cai and had the car dyno’d today and she made 594 rwhp. I’m thinking this is pretty high for just a cai. I bought the car slightly use and know that the pervious ower had the same cai on it at some point. Just wondering if anyone thinks it was tuned or is this normal for the ZL1 to pick up that much power with just a cai?

70% chance it's the dyno, not the car. CF# not shown.
20% chance the car was tuned (but torque is still relatively normal). Lambda not shown.
10% chance you got a lottery winner of a car.

Allot of variables on any dyno run. The HP numbers are a bit high for a CAI alone, but you could go tomorrow to a dyno jet down the road and get numbers that are a bit low. Enjoy the bragging rights!!!

You have 578, 582, and 594 whp numbers. Is one or two of them before the intake? Or if they all have the intake, what was the cause of the difference in the numbers? Was it heat? What got it up 16 whp from teh 578 pull?

All pulls were done after the cai install. The 594 pull was done after a 45 min cool down. The other two were done back to back right after I got to the shop. I know each Dyno is different and there are a lot of factors involved. That being said the tq number look normalish it was about 90 degrees outside with about 50% humidity.

Why was torque so much less than HP on a 650/650 motor?

Horsepower numbers should be corrected for non standard temperature and pressure. The numbers in Texas should be no different than the numbers for the same car in Denver with the correction applied.

Dynojets read high since there’s no load applied. Unless It’s an eddie current hybrid Dynojet.

My guess it's the Roto-Fab intake.

If you look at the dyno sheet from the Roto-Fab product announcement, you'll see that it actually lost peak torque versus the stock intake.

What I did with my vararam on my 5th gen Was do a dyno baseline stock, then while on the dyno, shut it off, swap out the intake and do it again.

do the actual swap a few times before going down to the dyno so you know exactly how to do it, what tools you need, etc. Stream line the process to eliminate time between runs

High heat “90 Deg” w/ 50% humidity = retarded timing especially on forced induction.

Imagine how high those numbers would be on a 60 degree day w/ 25% humidity.

Those numbers are SAE corrected. They would be exactly the same. Humidity is a negligeable factor when it comes to performance.

So go by the 578 and the 582, not the cooled down run. A cool dyno pull is for bragging rights or a hero run, the other two are real world repeatable numbers because you will always be heat soaked before a race.

Well I think I’m going to have it looked at just to see if it has been tuned. Just out of curiosity.
