Traction
In my m6 ss the car has trouble holding traction in first. The slightest defect in the road and even without defects the car likes to spin a little in first.
How is it that the zl1 is going to be able to hold the road under hard first gear acceleration? Do you have to leAve traction control on at all times? |

Probably a smart idea to leave traction control active on most cars.. Have you seen the Mustang memes?

Most RWD performance cars will overpower the tires.. To different extents though. It will have wider/stickier rubber than your Camaro, but it will also have an extra 200 horsepower.

There are plenty of videos of hellcats spinning out, I even saw a youtube video of a guy who was mad at other hellcat owners because they were not launching properly and "giving his car" a bad name. However, there is another video that I watched of dodge engineers guiding drivers how to properly launch the hellcats and it was all about easing that first gear and applying more throttle once the car was hooked in.
You can even look at super cars like the Bugatti Veyron that have tires glued to the wheels because the torque would rip the rubber off if they weren't (tire change costs 30k!) |

Anyone know what the width of the rear rims and tires are going to be on the zl1? I'd like to get some more rubber under my rear but only want oem parts.

Pretty sure the tires are 305's and the wheels are probably 9.5 to 10" wide.

The 80's with muscle cars pushing a whopping 175+/-hp. The ability just to slam the gas pedal to the floor yell mama I'm driving is over. With 400+ hp cars even with the new tires it's very easy to overpower the road. So now the gas pedal is not an on and off switch. Now with some practice and some skill these cars are insanely fast for a streetcar.

Another thing I forgot about is that the new parking brake for gen6, is it the same for m6 as the auto? how do you like the idea of a switch instead of a lever?

This explains your problem.....No throttle discipline.

Watching the track videos it looks like it sticks pretty good to me.
With a 4 sec or less 0-60, it should be good to go. It is all about technique.
