I gave in to the dark side. That GM builtin M6 bog pushed me over the edge to the A10. Surprisingly I drive this car more than my past manuals and I enjoy longer trips more. The bang-whine-bang-whine-bang is fun at Atco.

But won't most cars feel slow after a HC? For sure the ZL1 is more fun on a mountain road and any road with a curve in it.

I always loved that setting on my old C5 Z06. PTM modes are great for when you are really pushing the car around mountain roads, on/off ramps, or at the track.

The throttle mapping still is an issue for me though. I want a more sensitive setting for driving in traffic. I want like a 50% to 75% throttle with only a 25% pedal depress., it just feels better for daily driving

That’s another reason I traded-in the ZL1 1LE for the A10. I did not like the manual trans set-up in these cars. Gearing is off & designed more for the track. Funny part is if you owned a ZL1 1LE you would bag for the ZL1 drivability.

I was hoping that by the time this last post was posted, you'd have reported back about an A10 est drive....

Could very well be that your previous cars were all monster's and to impress you it becomes rather difficult. The ZL1 in manual or auto it both hauls hard, 0-60 set time for the manual tranny is 3.7 whereas the auto is 3.5, wouldn't call that a night and day difference. Plus if the automatic is so amazing, than why does 1LE come with a manual tranny only 🤔

In real life the difference in a10 acceleration from a dig is much greater than manufacturer claims. The m6 bog will set you back at least 1-2 Cars, not to mention shift time.

I did a 3.2 according to the car 0-60 the other night. Was testing out the new set of GS3.

Really? Not so much. I’ve never asked for a Gen 6 ZL1. I had a 13 ZL1 and a 15 Z/28 at the same time.ZL1 felt soft to me always. Some might like that. It’s ok with me. Everyone doesn’t hate the ZL1 1LE like you.

That 3.7 you reference for the manual is the best time... What about in real life conditions? You might achieve that 2 out of 10 tries whereas the automatic can consistently achieve sub 4 second times. Your logic on why it's not in the 1le is off. I can say the same thing about the nurburgring time for the zl1, why didn't they use the manual. Hell why don't race cars use manuals anymore? Exactly, less efficient.

Because they should... have the option to have the choice. Biggest issue is GM doesn't want to spend the time to R&D the auto trans option so it doesn't overheat. Also the 8 speed trans just wasn't quite good enough for the 1LE but the 10 speed is. .2 to 60 MPH is huge, a proper auto trans nowadays is more competitive in any arena, on the street, in the 1/4 mile, and on the road course. Rest assure the new GT500 will have the option to have the auto trans on there track version. None of the DODGE combinations would be as successful if it wasn't for the very good ZF sourced 8 speed automatic. The best track corvettes have a auto trans option, all the track GTLM cars are DCT automatic transmissions. Make the manual standard on all the monsters and even the non monsters, but absolutely make a great automatic an option.

Everybody knows it's HIGH TIME GM builds a solid PDK-like Transmission. With great automatic driving capability but top level manual response.

But since we know GM like the rest of the big 3 is a bunch of penny pinchers, that will probably never happen in the Camaro. I have inside info that the C8 will indeed have no torque converter automatic OR clutch-stick-manual. Leaving the only option a DCT.

That said, the A10 is EXTREMELY impressive and I don't care what transmission you're used to. The only people I would advise against the A10 is for the most hardcore of the hardcore track guys.

If the OP was disappointed with the ZL1, then he'd better be banking on spending $200,000 or more for a McLaren or Ferrari or possibly a high-tier Porsche. Because anything less is a downgrade. I didn't bother to read all 6 pages so I'm not sure which aspect we're disappointed with here...If it's purely just straight-line acceleration, go test a Vette or buy a 720S. Don't be fooled by the "feeling" the Hellcat gives you with a 275 tire and lax TC, the "insanity" is greatly magnified. The ZL1 will be doing the same acceleration but quietly and smoothly with much less drama. Much like an exotic.

I did not look. I did not understand your post. Your post read something about you never asked for a generation six. Cars with 200 less horsepower will overtake you on the highway. Gearing is terrible.

Line-up your M5 @ 80 and it will pull your 1LE. I know because it happen to me.

My A10 destroyed the same M5. As I said the gearing sucks.
