Another M6 vote. Simply cannot match the driving experience without a 3rd pedal as stated numerous times.

Don't get me wrong, the new autos are great, but even the new DCT transmissions don't excite me after 10 mins of driving (PDK, BMW M DCT, AMG DCT, C8 - yes I have driven all of these).

So my truck and the wife's SUV are autos, and I would own a dedicated single digit 1/4 mile car with an auto, but for any road course, or pleasure driving car, manual no question...that's why both of mine have 3 pedals
I own a 3 on the tree… it still shifts smoothly now.

All 3 of my “weekend” cars have manual transmissions (soon to be a 4th, I’m in the speccing process on a new beauty now, factory order, m7 all the way).

My take - for what it’s worth? Driving a manual car quickly (and efficiently) takes more skill than it does to drive an auto quickly. Perhaps better put, it takes less skill to drive an auto quickly and efficiently. For my driving experience, I’m interested in honing all skills, that includes manual shifting.

My daily is an auto, but my fun cars will be manual as long as I can find them to purchase.

Manual all the way. And don't tell me you can shift the auto if you want, it's pulling a lever, it's not shifting. My grandma can drive a automatic.

You've got computerized 'Drive Modes', no?

I want my "drive modes" to be 100% the way I want to be driving my car at any given moment, without having to relay that to my car through any electronics or have my intentions seen by my car through a filter that was developed by somebody else.

You may never notice, let alone be annoyed by, automated shifts that happen too late or too soon for the way you're driving (again, at any given moment). I always will.

I blame automatics for the electric revolution. People want less and less to do with getting there and just want to be there.

Everyone wants a manual gearbox part of the time and an auto transmission part of the time, the only difference is in individual percentages—it's unlikely someone really wants the stick 100% of the time no matter the circumstance
Consider yourself now knowing of one person who would be in your "stick 100% of the time" category, even in rentals. Being stuck having to drive an automatic isn't the same thing as not wanting to drive one.

Always enjoyed driving the 3 on the tree back on the farm. Agreed on all other points.

Only performance auto I will own is a dedicated 1/4 mile vehicle that runs 9's or quicker.

A-freegin-men! Look, for daily errands and going to work, sure, gimme the auto. Im OK with that and I too just want to "get there". But, I assumed enthusiasts would always prefer the manual shifting process when craving up a back road, a track or anything like that. Thats how I always viewed it. To each their own, of course.

Its just sad and odd that you can NOT even get a MT in a new Ferrari, Lambo, Porsche, etc. Wow. Enzo, Dr. Porsche and Ferrucio are rolling in their graves, LOL. I get that part of this is that most buyers of these cars - like young, rich internet kids cant drive sticks but geez..... you could at least offer it!
Glad Im getting older and will likely still be able to find cars with MT's in them for sport use.

I wont probably be driving much or even be around when they are all truly gone!

Norm
I hear (and respect) you, Norm, loud and clear.

There is no stopping the progress of technology, but what we should make sure is that we don't lose what's valuable in the process, which IMO is us being in control of tech instead of the other way around. That is my main beef with electric cars, by the way, not their "new" drivetrain (that is actually older than the internal combustion engine). Interestingly, a similar observation can easily be made even in my field of computer science & engineering, but I will not digress here.

Purely mechanical linkages are very limited, be it for fuel injection, throttle control, gear selection, braking or even mundane things like window operation. Are you saying you prefer a 100% mechanical approach to everything in the car? I'm genuinely curious, the question isn't to mess with ya

Dam Norm I didn't know you were over here also...and fighting for the manual man I see as always. Well it must have worked on me listening to you for the last 3 years of my A10 Mustang ownership because here I am now in a manual 1SS 1LE.

Keep up the good work Norm and know you're making a difference!

My Camaro isn’t my daily. It’s my track and weekend toy. I love the M6 for what I use it for. That said if it was my daily then I’d consider a 1LE with the A10. Who am I kidding… if I only had one vehicle it surely wouldn’t be a Camaro unfortunately.
