I simply used my fingers. It flexes a bit. I slid my fingers under the top, door side edge and wrapped my thumb around to the other side and pulled firmly (toward the passenger rear seat). The top latch popped loose and you then have plenty of room to route the wire.

I'd be worried about the side curtain airbag getting caught on the wire and not deploying properly.....

Convertibles don't have them...

I had ordered a 10' mini USB cable to replace the 15' power adapter cable on my dash cam and got them today. I re routed the cable now behind the pillar so it only sticks out at the windshield and where it comes out of the console. I may make a hidden power adapter tied into the console power socket inside the console to completely hide the wire.
One good thing is I can use the same cable on my Go Pro Camera.

Thanks for the help and suggestions, they are all appreciated.
