Test drive a LT1 today
My perspective is from driving a 16 RS V6 for three years now.
First thing is the view over the hood from the driver’s seat is way more aggressive. From the taller hood bump to the new center vent it really speaks to you when behind the wheel. No more posh Euro feel here. I was expecting for it to feel heavier but it’s a pretty slight difference from the V6. It’s a little more nose-heavy and that’s it. Brakes feel tighter with foot pressure. Power. Yes it’s there. You can feel that torque. My V6 feels hollow in comparison. The gas pedal feels more responsive, I think there was a little play still when pushing down initially but not as much. They may have improved it slightly but it’s not a whole new thing. At least you won’t smoke the tires by accident. This one just has the dual exhaust so it’s pretty quiet apart from the beautiful V8 gurgle. Auto trans, couldn’t tell any difference between it and the 8 speed. A world of difference from my 5th gen however. Touch screen looked like it had some new graphics and the digital speedometer seemed to have a better-looking font. If font can look sporty this a small improvement over the generic type on my RS. Going back after work to talk numbers. They listed it at $33k after rebates but we’ll see. Trade in value and interest will be factors. No spoiler or perf exhaust but it’s a good price for an auto trans. Cheapest bang per buck on V8 power that I know of... |

Even if it was pretty well loaded on options at around $44k, $6k off MSRP in Spring would still make me suspicious. Or I'd think, wow absolutely nobody wants to buy this car. Why am I?? |

I wouldn’t say 13% off is asking too much. GM does 20% off deals all the time.

I got a 1SS convertible for $35K - 20% off sticker. That was this time of year in 2016.
But the factory rebate was bigger that year than it is right now. Maybe October will be better. |

I paid 32900 for my 18 SS 2 years ago.
The upgrade from an RS is worth it, just don't let them take advantage just because the lt1 is a fairly new model. It's still an RS with an lt1 in it. |

Doesn't sound like you know how to buy a car or have little experience. I have a base 1SS A10. Wheel locks being the only option MSRP was around $39,7xx. Dealer had it discounted to $34,995. I had a Mustang at the time so that got me an additional $2K off for the conquest offer. My car had 5 miles on it. Had to bypass 5 local dealers who couldn't match it and drove an hour to get this car. Except for one local dealer actually did match it but the car he had 350 test driven miles and a seriously loud tick, so that one was a no-go. But even at $35K w/out the mustang rebate, that's only $2K more for an SS, which to me would be worth it. If you can score an LT1 for $29-30K, then maybe it's worthwhile. |
